JABS
JABS (short for Justice, Awareness and Basic Support) is a List of pressure groups in the United Kingdom, British pressure group launched in Wigan in January 1994. Beginning as a support group for the parents of children they claim Vaccine adverse event, became ill after the MMR vaccine (which they claim gave their children epilepsy, brain damage or autism – see: MMR vaccine and autism), the group is currently Vaccine hesitancy, against all forms of vaccination. Beginnings The group began as a support group after Jackie Fletcher placed an advert in the newspaper to find parents whose children became ill after their first MMR vaccine after her child was diagnosed with epilepsy ten days after he received an MMR vaccination. MMR Vaccine And Autism
Claims of a link between the MMR vaccine and autism have been extensively investigated and found to be false. The link was first suggested in the early 1990s and came to public notice largely as a result of the 1998 ''Lancet'' MMR autism fraud, characterised as "perhaps the most damaging medical hoax of the last 100 years". The fraudulent research paper authored by Andrew Wakefield and published in '' The Lancet'' claimed to link the vaccine to colitis and autism spectrum disorders. The paper was retracted in 2010 but is still cited by anti-vaccinationists. The claims in the paper were widely reported, leading to a sharp drop in vaccination rates in the UK and Ireland. The Legal Services Commission (LSC) was an executive non-departmental public body of the Ministry of Justice which was responsible for the operational administration of legal aid in England and Wales between 2000 and 2013. Overview The LSC was responsible for a budget of around £2 billion annually, and helping over 2 million people with their legal problems across England and Wales each year. It was established under the Access to Justice Act 1999 and in 2000 replaced the Legal Aid Board (founded 30 June 1949). Andrew Wakefield
Andrew Jeremy Wakefield (born September 3, 1956) is a British anti-vaccine activist, former physician, and discredited academic who was struck off the medical register for his involvement in ''The Lancet'' MMR autism fraud, a 1998 study that falsely claimed a link between the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine and autism. He has subsequently become known for anti-vaccination activism. Publicity around the 1998 study caused a sharp decline in vaccination uptake, leading to a number of outbreaks of measles around the world. The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC), founded under the name Dissatisfied Parents Together (DPT) in 1982, is an American 501(c)(3) organization that has been widely criticized as a leading source of fearmongering and misinformation about vaccines. Shaken Baby Syndrome
Shaken baby syndrome (SBS), also known as abusive head trauma (AHT), is the leading cause of fatal head injuries in children younger than two years.
