Jürgen Grässlin
Jürgen Grässlin (born September 18, 1957 in Lörrach) is a German teacher, journalist and peace activist, who rejects the use of violence. Since the 1990s he is regarded as the most prominent German opponent of the weapons industry. Having published several books concerning the automotive industry, the arms industry as well as the German army ( Bundeswehr), he is the spokesperson of the German Peace Society, (ger. Deutschen Friedensgesellschaft-Vereinigte KriegsdienstgegnerInnen) and of other associations, supporting disarmament. Life Grässlin and his family moved to Freiburg im Breisgau in 1960. After obtaining the Abitur, a document similar to A-levels enabling German students to attend university, Grässlin attended Freiburg University of Education ( ger. Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg). In 1978 his studies were interrupted as Grässlin was conscripted for military service, which ended after five months officially for health reasons. He started teaching at a Reals ...

The Manifest für Frieden () is a German manifesto and an online petition against Germany's arms deliveries to Ukraine and in favour of peace negotiations in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Background Directed to the Chancellor of Germany, Chancellor Olaf Scholz, it was written by Sahra Wagenknecht, a politician for The Left (Germany), The Left, and Alice Schwarzer, publisher of the Feminism, feminist magazine ''EMMA (magazine), EMMA'', and launched on 10 February 2023. The petition quickly reached several hundred thousands signatures, was accompanied by the Political demonstration, demonstration Aufstand für Frieden that drew around 13,000 people to the Brandenburg Gate on 25 February 2023, and caused intense debate in the German media. People from mainstream media and political parties accused Wagenknecht and Schwarzer of repeating Russian propaganda and of not sufficiently disavowing Right-wing populism, right-wing populists who also oppose the arms deliveries.
