Júlio Almeida
Júlio Antonio de Souza e Almeida (born 23 September 1969) is a Brazilian sport shooter. Almeida had won a total of four medals (two silver and two bronze) in pistol shooting at the Pan American Games (1995 in Mar de Plata, Argentina, 2007 in Rio de Janeiro, and 2011 in Guadalajara, Mexico). He also captured a silver and a bronze medal in centre-fire and standard pistol at the 2010 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Munich, Germany, with scores of 586 and 574, respectively. At age thirty-nine, Almeida made his official debut for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed in three pistol shooting events. He scored a total of 580 targets in the preliminary rounds of the men's 10 m air pistol, by one point behind Armenia's Norayr Bakhtamyan from the final attempt, finishing only in thirteenth place. Shooting At The 2011 Pan American Games – Men's 50 Metre Pistol
The men's 50 metre pistol shooting event at the 2011 Pan American Games was held on October 18 at the Jalisco Hunting Club in Guadalajara. The defending Pan American Games champion was Jason Turner of the United States. The event consisted of two rounds: a qualifier and a final. In the qualifier, each shooter fired 60 shots with a pistol at 50 metres distance. Scores for each shot were in increments of 1, with a maximum score of 10. The top 8 shooters in the qualifying round moved on to the final round. There, they fired an additional 10 shots. These shots scored in increments of .1, with a maximum score of 10.9. The total score from all 70 shots was used to determine final ranking. Sergio Sanchez of Guatemala won the competition, which qualified his country a quota spot for the men's 50 metre pistol event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Great Britain.
