Jørgen Otto Brockenhuus
Jørgen Otto Brockenhuus (born 11 March 1664, in Storhammer in Hamar and died 1728 in Vang) was a Norwegian officer. Early life He was son of colonel Ove Brockenhuus and Sophie Spang. Military career In his youth he served as a second lieutenant (''fenrik'') in the Netherlands and served in the royal guard in Denmark but belonged to the Norwegian military. In 1710 he became colonel (''oberst'') and commander of the First Oppland National Infantry Regiment (''1. oplandske nationale Regiment Fodfolk''). He took part in the warfare in Norway during the Great Northern War and was named the second in command under general Jens Maltesen Sehested in 1715, where he was commander of the forces in southern Norway (''sønnenfjeldske Norge''). In 1717 he again took charge of his own regiment, which he commanded until his death. A thing, german: ding, ang, þing, enm, thing. (that is, "assembly" or folkmoot) was a governing assembly in early Germanic society, made up of the free people of the community presided over by a lawspeaker. Henrik Brockenhuus
Henrik Adam Brockenhuus (30 May 1720 - 11 June 1803) was a Danish courtier, local administrator in Zealand. He owned the estates of Jungshoved, Oremandsgaard and Nysø and serv as prefect (amtmand(amtmand/stiftsamtmand) of Vordingborg Municipality from 1767 to 1776 and of the Diocese of Zealand from 1776 to 1787. Early life Brockenhuus was born in Vang at Hamar in Norway, the son of colonel Jørgen Otto Brockenhuus (1664–1728) and his second wife Bertha (Barte) Magdalene Brockenhuus (1684–1769). As a young man he became a close friend of crown prince Frederick (V). Career and property He was appointed to ''hofjunker'' in 1744, then stable master for the crown prince and squire (''kammerjunker'') in 1745 and finally chamberlain ('kammerherre'') in 1752. Hedemark
Hedmark () was a county in Norway before 1 January 2020, bordering Trøndelag to the north, Oppland to the west, Akershus to the south, and Sweden to the east. The county administration is in Hamar. Dovrefjell
Dovrefjell is a mountain range in Central Norway that forms a natural barrier between Eastern Norway and Trøndelag. The mountain range is located in Innlandet, Møre og Romsdal, and Trøndelag counties in Norway. As a result of its central location, its valleys and passes have been heavily trafficked during and probably preceding historical times. Several mountain inns were established in the Middle Ages to house pilgrims traveling through Dovrefjell to Trondheim, and there are even ruins of an old leper colony in the northern area of it. The main south-north highway ( European route E6) and the Dovrebanen railway line both run through a mountain pass in the Dovrefjell range. The highway is a year-round highway but on rare occasions it is closed for short periods during heavy winter weather conditions.
