Jørgen Hansen (boxer)
Jørgen Hansen (27 March 1943 – 15 March 2018) was a Danish welterweight boxer. Hansen competed for Denmark at the 1968 Summer Olympics in the welterweight division but lost his first match. Hansen turned professional shortly after the games and was active as a professional until 1982. Hansen fought for the WBC world light welterweight title in 1973, but was stopped by Italian Bruno Arcari. Hansen won the European welterweight title in 1977 against Italian Marco Scano but lost the title by disqualification in his first defense. In 1978 he was awarded a chance to regain the title against Frenchman Alain Marion whom Hansen stopped in the 6th round of the title bout. Hansen later lost the title by disqualification. Hansen won the European title for the third time when he knocked out British European champion Dave Boy Green in the third round. Welterweight is a weight class in combat sports. Originally the term "welterweight" was used only in boxing, but other combat sports like Muay Thai, taekwondo, and mixed martial arts also use it for their own weight division system to classify the opponents. In most sports that use it, welterweight is heavier than lightweight but lighter than middleweight. Etymology The first known instance of the term is from 1831, meaning "heavyweight horseman," later "boxer or wrestler of a certain weight" by 1896. Dave Boy Green
David Robert Green (born 2 June 1953), better known as Dave Boy Green, is a former British professional boxer who competed from 1974 to 1981. He challenged twice for the WBC welterweight title; first in 1977 against Carlos Palomino and again in 1980 against Sugar Ray Leonard. At regional level, he held the British and European super-lightweight titles in 1976, becoming the first British fighter to hold the latter, Lloyd, pp. 30–31. and the European welterweight title in 1979. Early life Green was born on 2 June 1953, in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, a small fenland town. His father was a farmer and so Green's first experience of work was helping out around the family farm. Ayub Kalule
Ayub Kalule (born 6 January 1954) is a retired boxer from Uganda, who first came to prominence when he won the Amateur World Welterweight Title at the inaugural 1974 World Championships in Havana, Cuba. As a professional, he held the WBA and The Ring light middleweight titles from 1979 until 1981. Boxing career Born in Kampala, he began his professional boxing career in 1976 when he won a four-round decision over Kurt Hombach in Copenhagen, Denmark. Kalule would be based out of Denmark for the rest of his career. He then won 29 more victories, achieving 30 wins, 0 losses. Included in those victories were defeats of Alipata Korovou for the Commonwealth Middleweight Title and a 10-round decision of former US Gold Medalist Sugar Ray Seales. On 24 October 1979, Kalule was in Akita, Japan to take on Masashi Kudo for the Lineal and WBA Junior middleweight titles. Alain Marion (25 December 1938 – 16 August 1998) was a French flutist, and considered one of the world's best flute players of the late twentieth century. Biography Marion was born in Marseille on Christmas Day 1938. He studied at the Marseille Conservatoire under renowned flutist Joseph Rampal, and gained the award ''premier prix de flûte'' when he was only 14. He later studied with Rampal at the Conservatoire de Paris (where he eventually became a professor), and gained fame after winning a prize at the Geneva International Music Competition. In 1964, the French national broadcaster Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française appointed Marion as first flutist, and later to the Orchestre de Paris. In 1972 he became a soloist for the Orchestre National de France. He joined the chamber orchestra Ensemble InterContemporain in 1977, working with Pierre Boulez.
