Jörgen Smit In Norway the spelling of the first name is Jørgen, also Smit's passport states this. However after Jörgen Smit moved to Switzerland and the Norwegian Ambassady in Bern issued his passport the spelling was changed to Jörgen. In international context, also in the English speaking world occasionally other spellings appear like Joergen or Jorgen. In early official documents his name appears as Jörgen Faye Smit. Faye was the last name of his mother, apparently a Norwegian convention which was later not used by Jörgen Smit himself.
