József Balogh (politician)
József Balogh (born December 12, 1962) is a Hungarian politician, member of the National Assembly (MP) for Kunszentmiklós, Bács-Kiskun County between 1998 and 2014. Career He received vocational qualifications as an agricultural machines mechanic at Industrial Skilled Workers' Training Institute No. 607 of Kecskemét in 1980. He worked for Zrínyi Miklós Agricultural Cooperative at Fülöpháza until 1985. He was employed by the Municipal Council of Fülöpháza until 1990. Currently he has a farm of his own near Fülöpháza. He is a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture since 2002. He was a member of the Independent Smallholders, Agrarian Workers and Civic Party (FKGP) between 1989 and 2002. He joined Fidesz in 2003. He served as the mayor of Fülöpháza between 2010 and 2016. Balogh was succeeded by his daughter Csilla Nagy-Balogh in the mayoral seat. The National Assembly ( hu, Országgyűlés, lit=Country Assembly) is the parliament of Hungary. The unicameral body consists of 199 (386 between 1990 and 2014) members elected to 4-year terms. Election of members is done using a semi-proportional representation: a mixed-member majoritarian representation with partial scorporo, compensation via transfer votes and mixed single vote; involving single-member districts and one list vote; parties must win at least 5% of the popular vote in order to gain list seats assembly. The Assembly includes 25 standing committees to debate and report on introduced bills and to supervise the activities of the ministers. 2014 Hungarian Parliamentary Election
The 2014 Hungarian parliamentary election took place on 6 April 2014. This parliamentary election was the 7th since the 1990 first multi-party election. The result was a victory for the Fidesz–KDNP alliance, preserving its two-thirds majority, with Viktor Orbán remaining Prime Minister. It was the first election under the new Constitution of Hungary which came into force on 1 January 2012. The new electoral law also entered into force that day. For the first time since Hungary's transition to democracy, the election had a single round. The voters elected 199 MPs instead of the previous 386 lawmakers. Fidesz – Hungarian Civic Alliance (; hu, Fidesz – Magyar Polgári Szövetség) is a right-wing populist and national-conservative political party in Hungary, led by Viktor Orbán. It was formed in 1988 under the name of Alliance of Young Democrats () as a centre-left and liberal activist movement that opposed the ruling Marxist–Leninist government. It was registered as a political party in 1990, with Orbán as its leader. It entered the National Assembly following the 1990 parliamentary election, although, it lost two seats after the 1994 election. Following the election, it adopted liberal-conservatism which caused liberal members to leave and to join the Alliance of Free Democrats. Dr. Gabriella Selmeczi (born 21 June 1965) is a Hungarian jurist and politician, member of the National Assembly (MP) since the 1994 parliamentary election. Currently she is a spokesperson of the Fidesz. Biography Selmeczi was born in Budapest on 21 June 1965. She finished her secondary studies in her birthplace in 1983 and started her career in her parents' family business, where she worked for two years. She graduated as a business administrator from the College of Commerce and Catering in 1989. She obtained her next degree in journalism from Vitéz János Teacher's Training College in Esztergom where she studied from 1990 to 1991. She worked as an editor and reporter for the Municipal Television of Budaörs between 1990 and 1991. She was managing director of Intereska Trading Ltd. from 1991 until summer 1994. The Hungarian Socialist Party ( hu, Magyar Szocialista Párt), commonly known by its acronym MSZP, is a centre-left social-democratic and pro-European political party in Hungary. It was founded on 7 October, 1989 as a post-communist evolution and one of two legal successors of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party (MSZMP).
