Jógvan Hansen
Jógvan Hansen (born 28 December 1978 in KlaksvÃk, Faroe Islands) is a Faroese singer, musician (violinist and guitar player) and actor who won the first ever Icelandic version of ''The X Factor'' in 2007 with 70% of the popular vote. His album ''Rooftop'' and the title single were #1 in Iceland. Prior to his solo career, he was in the music formations Aria and Kular Røtur Career Early days ;In Aria Jógvan Hansen was trained in classical violin playing for nine years and was the lead singer in a band called Aria that released a CD in 1998 entitled ''After These Messages'', which went straight to the top of the charts on the Faroe Islands. ;In Kular Røtur From 1999, he was in the children's concept Kular Røtur (Cool Roots) and released with them three CDs and two videotapes. KlaksvÃk
KlaksvÃk is the second largest town of the Faroe Islands behind Tórshavn. The town is located on Borðoy, which is one of the northernmost islands (the Norðoyar). It is the administrative centre of KlaksvÃk municipality. History The first settlement at KlaksvÃk dates back to Viking times, but it was not until the 20th century that the district merged to form a large, modern Faroese town that became a cultural and commercial centre for the Northern Isles and the Faroe Islands as a whole. KlaksvÃk is located between two inlets lying back to back. It has an important harbour with fishing industry and a modern fishing fleet. Originally, four farms were located where KlaksvÃk is now. In time, they grew into four villages: Vágur, Myrkjanoyri, Gerðar and Uppsalir; which finally merged to form the town of KlaksvÃk in 1938. Iceland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Ég á lÃf" written by Örlygur Smári, Pétur Örn Guðmundsson. The song was performed by Eythor Ingi. The Icelandic entry for the 2013 contest in Malmö, Sweden was selected through the national final ''Söngvakeppnin 2013'', organised by the Icelandic broadcaster RÃkisútvarpið (RÚV). The selection consisted of two semi-finals and a final, held on 25 January, 26 January and 2 February 2013, respectively. Friðrik Ómar Hjörleifsson (born 4 October 1981) is an Icelandic singer best known for representing Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 as part of Eurobandið as lead vocals. Career Friðrik Ómar was born in Akureyri. He began playing drums at the age of five but was later asked to sing at a festival for his school, his first performance with an audience other than his mother. Impressing the crowd, he then went on to win many competitions in his hometown and made the decision to be a singer. He has worked with some of most successful artists in Iceland.
