János Nagy Balogh
János Nagy Balogh (2 August 1874, Budapest – 22 November 1919, Budapest) was a Hungarian painter and graphic artist who specialized in proletarian subjects. Biography He came from a humble, working-class family. His father died early and his mother had to support the family doing laundry, so he spent much of his youth in poverty. Later, he was apprenticed to a Master Painter whose drunken, abusive behavior made him seek a way to escape, so he began saving his money with the goal of becoming an artist. Originally, he enrolled at the "School of Fine and Applied Arts", where he attended night classes while supporting himself by house-painting. János Balogh (10 September 1892, Kézdivásárhely, now Târgu Secuiesc – 12 September 1980, Budapest) was a Hungarian–Romanian chess master. He was a Romanian Champion in 1930. Balogh played for Romania in Chess Olympiads: * In 2nd unofficial Olympiad at Budapest 1926; * In the 2nd Chess Olympiad at The Hague 1928 (+4 –7 =5); * In the 3rd Chess Olympiad at The Hague 1930 (+5 –5 =5); * In the 4th Chess Olympiad at Prague 1931 (+3 –7 =5); and for Hungary at first reserve board in 3rd unofficial Olympiad at Munich 1936 (+5 –1 =7). He won team bronze medal at Budapest 1926, team gold and individual bronze medals at Munich 1936. János Balogh (footballer)
János Balogh (born 29 November 1982 in Debrecen) is a Hungarian football goalkeeper who is currently playing for Csenger FC. Club career Early career Balogh began his career with hometown club Debreceni VSC, picking up a Magyar Kupa winner's medal in 2001. In 2004, he joined FC Sopron for a season where he won the Hungarian cup for a second time, before spending a brief spell with Nyíregyháza Spartacus and then returning to Debreceni VSC. The following seasons proved to be very successful domestically as Balogh won the Hungarian League and the Szuperkupa in 2007 and the Hungarian cup for a third time in 2008. In August 2008 he left to join Heart of Midlothian. Hearts Balogh signed for Hearts on an initial six-month loan in August 2008, where he was expected to compete with Marian Kello and Jamie MacDonald for a place in the starting line-up.
