Juwi
The Juwi GmbH is a company which builds renewable power supply facilities. Founded by Fred Jung and Matthias Willenbacher in 1996, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The today's headquarters is in Wörrstadt. The name "juwi" is an acronym based on the initials of its two founders. In its early days Juwi was a two-man company. Today Juwi has over 900 employees and 900 million Euro revenue. Waldpolenz Solar Park
The Waldpolenz Solar Park is a 52-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic power station built by German developer and operator Juwi at a former military air base near Leipzig, Eastern Germany. When completed by the end of 2008, it was the world's largest thin-film solar park using CdTe-modules. Initially, the solar power plant's nameplate capacity was 40 MW, consisting of 500,000 state-of-the-art solar panels provided by U.S. manufacturer First Solar, and generated 40,000 MWh of electricity per year. The solar park was then extended with another 153,650 panels, also provided by First Solar, to a final capacity of 52 MWP in 2011 The installation is located in the Muldentalkreis district in the state of Saxony in eastern Germany, built on half of the location's in the townships of Brandis and Bennewitz. Matthias Willenbacher
Matthias Willenbacher (born 14 July 1969 at Schneebergerhof, Gerbach) is a German entrepreneur and pioneer in the field of renewable energy. Willenbacher studied physics and founded the company juwi together with Fred Jung in 1996. He was a member of the Executive Board of juwi AG from its founding until March 31, 2015. He is one of the protagonists shown in the film '' Die 4. Revolution – Energy Autonomy'', and with his enterprise one of the main sponsors of the film. Together with his partner Fred Jung he was awarded 'Greentech Manager des Jahres' in 2009 by the German magazine ''Capital''. Willenbacher and Jung established the 100 percent renewable foundation in 2008. With this charitable foundation, the founders want to make a contribution to environmental protection by promoting the use of renewable energies. Wörrstadt is a town in the Alzey-Worms district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Geography Location The town lies in Rhenish Hesse on the northwest edge of the Upper Rhine Plain. It is the seat of the like-named ''Verbandsgemeinde''. Wörrstadt is surrounded by typical Rhenish-Hessian countryside: In places that are favourable to the purpose, there is intensive winegrowing, and in less exposed locations, cropraising.
