Juulia Turkkila
Juulia Turkkila (; born 3 November 1994) is a Finnish figure skater. Competing in ice dancing with Matthias Versluis, she is the 2022 Grand Prix of Espoo bronze medalist and a two-time Finnish national champion. As a single skater, she is the 2012 Nordic champion and 2014 Finnish national champion. She competed in the final segment at eight ISU Championships, achieving her best result, 12th, at the 2014 Europeans. Personal life Juulia Turkkila was born on 3 November 1994 in Helsinki, Finland. At age six, she began training in ballet at the Finnish National Opera and Ballet. After graduating from secondary school, she decided to study economics at Aalto University. Matthias Versluis
Matthias Versluis (born 18 July 1994) is a Finnish figure skater. Competing in ice dancing with Juulia Turkkila, he is the 2022 Grand Prix of Espoo bronze medalist and a two-time Finnish national champion. As a single skater, he is the 2014 Finnish national champion and competed in the final segment at two ISU Championships. Personal life Versluis was born on 18 July 1994 in Genolier, Switzerland, to a Finnish mother and Dutch father. He moved to Finland with his family when he was six months old. As of 2018, he is studying physiotherapy. Career Early career Versluis began learning to skate in 2002. Tiiu Valgemäe coached him early in his career. European Figure Skating Championships
The European Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition in which figure skaters compete for the title of European champion. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The event is sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU) and is the sport's oldest competition. The first European Championships was held in 1891 in Hamburg, Germany and featured one segment, compulsory figures, with seven competitors, all men from Germany and Austria. The 2011 World Figure Skating Championships was a senior international figure skating competition in the 2010–11 season. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The 2011 World Junior Figure Skating Championships was an international figure skating competition during the 2010–11 season. Commonly called "World Juniors" and "Junior Worlds", the event crowned the World Junior Champions in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Nordic Figure Skating Championships
The Nordic Championships (''Nordiska Mästerskapen'') are an annual elite figure skating competition. It was originally open only to representatives of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. However, representatives of any ISU member nation may enter the senior-level event since 2011 and in the junior-level event since 2020. The novice-level competition remains restricted to the Nordic countries. Medals may be awarded on the senior, junior, and novice levels in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing, although the latter two disciplines are often omitted due to lack of entries.
