Justo Ricardo del Carril Aldao (13 December 1923 – 10 February 2008) was an Argentinian alpine skier and bobsledder who competed in the 1948 Winter Olympics The 1948 Winter Olympics, officially known as the V Olympic Winter Games (german: V. Olympische Winterspiele; french: Ves Jeux olympiques d'hiver; it, V Giochi olimpici invernali; rm, V Gieus olimpics d'enviern) and commonly known as St. Moritz .... The 1948 Winter Olympics, officially known as the V Olympic Winter Games (german: V. The Games were the first to be celebrated after World War II; it had been twelve years since the last Winter Games in 1936. From the selection of a host city in a neutral country to the exclusion of Japan and Germany, the political atmosphere of the post-war world was inescapable during the 1948 Games. The men's alpine skiing downhill event was part of the alpine skiing at the 1948 Winter Olympics programme. It was the first appearance of the event and the competition was held on Monday, 2 February 1948. One hundred and eleven alpine skiers from 25 nations competed. Henri Oreiller of France won the first of his two gold medals at these Olympics; he also won the combined and won a bronze medal in slalom.
