Justin Inacio
Justin Inacio (born November 6, 1998) is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays as a faceoff specialist with the Archers Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) and as a defenceman for the Calgary Roughnecks of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Inacio played college lacrosse for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Early and personal life Inacio was born and raised in Oakville, Ontario as the son of Nelson and Sandra Inacio. He has an older sister. Inacio began to play lacrosse at the age of 4, and would go on to attend The Hill Academy, where he played lacrosse for head coach Brodie Merrill. Although Canada rarely produces top faceoff specialists, Inacio was ranked as the top faceoff man in the class of 2017 and was an Under Armour All-American, earning a scholarship to play lacrosse at Ohio State University, becoming the first person in his family to attend college. Calgary Roughnecks
The Calgary Roughnecks are a professional box lacrosse team based in Calgary, Alberta. They are members of the Western Division of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and play their home games on WestJet Field at Scotiabank Saddledome. The team name is derived from the roughnecks who work drilling rigs in Alberta's oil and gas industry. The team is affectionately known by fans as the ''Riggers''. The Roughnecks were founded in 2001, their first season was 2002, and they have qualified for the post-season every year from 2003 to 2016. They have won three division championships (2005, 2009, 2011) and have captured the NLL Cup as NLL champions three times. The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is a men's professional box lacrosse league in North America. The league is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Brodie Merrill
Brodie Merrill (born November 5, 1981) is a Canadian professional lacrosse player. He currently plays in the National Lacrosse League for the San Diego Seals and Premier Lacrosse League for the Cannons. Merrill is recognized by the Premier Lacrosse League as having revolutionized the LSM position, and is the namesake for the Brodie Merrill LSM of the Year Award, being the only active PLL player to have an award named after them. The Hill Academy
The Hill Academy is an independent school in Ontario, Canada, for student athletes in Grades 5 -12/PG with a focus on hockey, lacrosse and golf. It is co-ed, and serves grades 5-12. History The Hill Academy was founded in 2006 by the Merrill family, for “dedicated student-athletes.” In 2006 it had 16 student-athletes and held classes at a conference center in Orangeville, Ontario, north-west of Toronto. By 2017 it relocated to three houses in the village of Kleinburg. The 24 students practiced at a community park, and trained at a local gym. In 2010 it had 85 students. Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) is an American professional field lacrosse league, composed of 8 teams. The league's inaugural season debuted on June 1, 2019, and included a 14-week tour-based schedule taking place in 12 major-market cities. 2023 World Lacrosse Championship
The 2023 World Lacrosse Championship will be the 14th edition of the international men's field lacrosse tournament for national teams organized by World Lacrosse. Initially scheduled for 2022, it was postponed to 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament will be held in San Diego, California. The tournament will be limited to 30 teams for the first time through regional qualifying tournaments. Hosting The Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL), since renamed World Lacrosse, gave its member associations until the end of September 2016 to formally make its intent to bid known to the international sports body and March 2017 to submit their bid.
