''Justicia'' is the eleventh studio album by American pianist Eddie Palmieri. It was released by Tico Records in 1969. It is Palmieri's most overtly political album, with lyrics dealing with inequality, discrimination and social justice. Described as an "integrated discourse", i.e. a concept album, it combines the popular salsa dura style of the 1970s on side A with a more innovative approach to jazz experimentation on side B. Background and recording Throughout the 1960s, pianist Eddie Palmieri played an important role in the development of salsa music, salsa with his ''conjunto'' La Perfecta. ''Justicia'' is a genus of flowering plants in the family Acanthaceae. It is the largest genus within the family, with over 900 accepted species. They are native to tropical to warm temperate regions of the Americas, India, and Africa. The genus serves as host to many butterfly species, such as ''Anartia fatima''. Common names include water-willow and shrimp plant, the latter from the inflorescences, which resemble a shrimp in some species. The generic name honours Scottish horticulturist James Justice (1698–1763). They are closely related to '' Pachystachys''. SS ''Justicia'' was a British Troopship, troop ship that was launched in Ireland in 1914 and sunk off County Donegal in 1918. She was designed and launched as the Transatlantic crossing, transatlantic Ocean liner, liner ''Statendam'', a new flagship for the Holland America Line (NASM), but the outbreak of World War I, First World War delayed her completion. In 1915 NASM agreed to let the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, United Kingdom acquire her and have her completed as a troop ship. Silvestre Francisco Dangond Corrales (born May 12, 1980, in Urumita) is a Colombian singer. He attributes his talents to his father, the singer William José "El Palomo" Dangond Baquero, who during the mid-1970s recorded 10 singles with Andrés "El Turco" Gil; and his mother, who comes from a musical family and passed down her charismatic nature to him, while also playing a major role in his formal and personal education. José Moreno Justicia (1960 – 10 November 2024), better known as Pepe Justicia, was a Spanish flamenco guitarist from Bélmez de la Moraleda, Province of Jaén (Spain), Jaén. A concert player and teacher, he got into flamenco aged 14, inspired by Paco de Lucía. His playing style is reminiscent of traditional flamenco from Jerez de la Frontera, where he resides since 1987.
