Jus Oborn
Justin Oborn is a British musician, singer, and songwriter. He is the lead vocalist, guitarist and lyricist of Electric Wizard, an English doom metal band from Dorset, which Oborn co-founded in 1993. Prior to forming Electric Wizard, he was a member of doom metal band Lord of Putrefaction, which changed its name to Thy Grief Eternal and then to Eternal. Career During 1988, Oborn formed Lord of Putrefaction. They recorded two demos, before changing their name to Thy Grief Eternal and recording the ''On Blackened Wings'' demo. The band then became known simply as Eternal and recorded the ''Lucifer's Children'' demo, before disbanding. In 1993, Oborn formed Electric Wizard. He has been the band's frontman since that time. Electric Wizard
Electric Wizard are an English doom metal band from Dorset. The band formed in 1993 and have recorded nine studio albums, two of which have been considered genre landmarks: ''Come My Fanatics…'' (1997) and ''Dopethrone'' (2000). Electric Wizard's brand of doom metal incorporates stoner and sludge traits, with lyrics focusing on the occult, witchcraft, H. P. Lovecraft, horror films and cannabis. In 2014 they formed Witchfinder Records, an imprint of Spinefarm Records, on which they plan to release all future albums. Let Us Prey
''Let Us Prey'' is the fourth studio album by English doom metal band Electric Wizard. It was released through Rise Above Records in 2002 and was the last album to feature Electric Wizard's original line-up. After its release, Tim Bagshaw and Mark Greening went on to form Ramesses (band), Ramesses. The vinyl edition was originally pressed by The Music Cartel on a single LP. Rise Above later reissued the vinyl version as a 2LP with a bonus track, "Mother of Serpents". This track also appears on the Japanese version of the album as well as the CD reissues on both Rise Above and Candlelight Records. Musical style ''Let Us Prey'' was a continuation of the more abrasive doom metal sound of their previous album, ''Dopethrone''. It featured more experimentation and guitar layering on some songs. Rise Above Records
Rise Above Records is a London-based independent record label owned by Lee Dorrian (of the band Cathedral and formerly of Napalm Death). Founding Lee Dorrian started Rise Above Records in 1988 without the intention of the label being an ongoing position. It was during the same year that he had left his previous band, Napalm Death. Dorrian explained that it was predominantly done to "get the dole off my back as they were asking a lot of questions as Napalm Death were on the front cover of the ''NME'' and on TV three times in one week, but I was still living in a council flat and couldn't even afford the rent." Rise Above Records was initially started up on the Enterprise Allowance Scheme, a Conservative government initiative which fronted cash to young entrepreneurs. ''Wizard Bloody Wizard'' is the ninth studio album by English stoner/doom metal band Electric Wizard, released on 17 November 2017, three years after their previous album '' Time to Die''. Recording took place from April 2016 to February 2017 at the Satyr IX Recording Studios with production duties on the album shared between lead singer Jus Oborn and guitarist Liz Buckingham. Though some music critics noted an overall change in the band's sound from their usual doom formula towards a slightly more hard rock approach, the album received generally favourable reviews. With a running time of 43 minutes and consisting of only six songs, ''Wizard Bloody Wizard'' is the band's shortest studio album to date. Black Masses
''Black Masses'' is the seventh studio album by English doom metal band Electric Wizard, released on 1 November 2010. It is the band's only album to feature bassist Tas Danazoglou. Background Guitarist-vocalist Jus Oborn described the album as a "continuation of ''Witchcult Today'' in many respects," although he also sees it as part of a lineage composed of '' Come My Fanatics...'', ''Supercoven'', ''Dopethrone'', and ''Witchcult Today''. However, he does draw a contrast between ''Black Masses'' and ''Witchcult Today'' in that he views the former as "violent, aggressive" and the latter as "mellow and alluring". "Venus in Furs" is based on the book of the same name by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch; however, the song made references to the film of the same name by Jesús Franco.
