Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Some of the earliest hard rock music was produced by the Kinks, the Who, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Cream, Vanilla Fudge, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. In the late 1960s, bands such as Blue Cheer, the Jeff Beck Group, Iron Butterfly, Led Zeppelin, Golden Earring, Steppenwolf and Deep Purple also produced hard rock. Tom Werman
Tom Werman (born 1945) is an American former record producer responsible for many hard rock and heavy metal albums. Early life and education Werman was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in Newton. He earned a bachelor's degree and an MBA from Columbia University; he played guitar in college. Producing career In 1970, bored with his work in advertising, he sent a letter to Clive Davis at CBS Records and landed a job at Epic Records as an A&R man. His discoveries included Boston, Cheap Trick, REO Speedwagon, and Ted Nugent, whose first album he co-produced as his first production credit. He also brought Kiss, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Rush to Epic, but the label passed on all three. After combining A&R with record producing at Epic until the end of 1982, Werman moved to Elektra Records the following year, but left after four months and continued in producing as an independent; he also worked for a while as an executive at Capitol Records. The Wildhearts
The Wildhearts are an English rock band, formed in 1989 in Newcastle upon Tyne. The band's sound is a mixture of hard rock and melodic pop music, often described in the music press as combining influences as diverse as the Beatles and 1980s-era Metallica. The Wildhearts achieved several top 20 singles and two top 10 albums in Britain, though they also faced difficulties with record companies and many internal problems often relating to drugs and depression. The Quireboys
The Quireboys are an English rock band formed in 1984 in London, with strong ties to Newcastle. When the band formed they were originally known as The Queerboys and later as the London Quireboys in the United States and Canada, settling at last with their current name. History 1985–89: Formation Vocalist Jonathan Gray (commonly referred to as just 'Spike') moved from Newcastle upon Tyne to London when he was 17 years old. By the mid-1980s, the two decided to form a rock and roll band, the name chosen for the group was originally 'The Choirboys' taken from the 1977 movie of the same name, but they soon changed it to the Queerboys. The Hellacopters
The Hellacopters are a Swedish garage rock band that was formed in 1994 by Nicke Andersson (vocals and guitar), Andreas Tyrone "Dregen" Svensson (guitar), Kenny Håkansson (bass) and Robert Eriksson (drums). Andersson (sometimes known as Nick Royale) had been the drummer for death metal band Entombed and Dregen was taking a break from his full-time band Backyard Babies. The Dogs D'Amour are an English bluesey hard rock band formed in London in 1983. Over the years the band has had various line-ups, the only constant being vocalist Tyla. Their music has been described as a mixture of the Rolling Stones, the Faces and glam punk. Their 1989 release, ''A Graveyard of Empty Bottles'', reached No. 16 on the UK Albums Chart while the single "Satellite Kid" reached No. 26 on the UK Singles Chart. Brent Muscat (born April 23, 1967) is an American musician best known as the guitarist of glam metal band Faster Pussycat. Faster PussyCat, etc. Faster Pussycat was formed in the 1980s Hollywood glam metal boom. The original line up consisted of Brent, along with Taime Downe and Greg Steele. The band's most successful album '' Wake Me When It's Over'' earned "Gold" status from the RIAA. The name of the band is derived from the Russ Meyer film ''Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!''.
