Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 was the sixteenth edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest, organised by the Belarusian Television and Radio Company (BTRC) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). It took place in the Belarusian capital city, Minsk on 25 November 2018 at the Minsk-Arena. It was the second time that the contest was held in Belarus, after it staged the at the same venue. A record twenty countries took part in the contest, with and participating for the first time. returned for the first time since , alongside for the first time since and after missing the . withdrew from the contest. Last year's winner Polina Bogusevich performed her entry again as the interval act, alongside the common song "#LightUp" sung by all the participants. On 26 October 2018, it was announced that Perlin would host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018, alongside singers Helena Meraai and Zinaida Kupriyanovich, in Minsk. Minsk-Pasažyrski ( be, Мінск-Пасажырскі, russian: link=no, Минск-Пассажирский) is the main passenger railway station in Minsk, Belarus. It is located in the centre of Minsk. Lake Strusta ( be, Стру́ста; lt, Strustas) is a freshwater lake in the Braslaw District of Vitebsk Region, Belarus, the third largest among the Braslaw Lakes and the sixteenth largest in Belarus. Čyžoŭka-Arena (or Chizhovka-Arena, be, Чыжоўка-Арэна; russian: Чижовка-Арена) is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Čyžoŭka microdistrict of Minsk, Belarus. Its full name is "Шматфункцыянальны культурна-спартыўны і забаўляльны комплекс «Чыжоўка-Арэна»". Opened in December 2013, it is mostly used for concerts, ice hockey and other indoor sporting activities. The main arena has a capacity of 8,807 people and the training arena has 473 seats. Chelyuskinetes Park or Park Čaliuskincaŭ ( be, Парк Чалюскiнцаў, russian: Парк Челюскинцев) is an urban forest park in Minsk, Belarus. The park's area is 78 hectares. The park contains an amusement park. Other attractions include a Children's Railroad, operated exclusively by teenagers, and a cinema ''Raduga'' ( en, rainbow). There is a Minsk Metro station " Park Čaliuskincaŭ" next to the park. The park is adjacent to the Minsk Botanical Garden. The park was established during 1928-1932 as Kamaroúski Park and was renamed in 1934 for the crew of the SS Chelyuskin.
