José Artur de Melo Júnior (born 7 March 1987), commonly known as Juninho, is a Brazilian retired footballer who played as a forward. He was known as Júnior until 2008. Biography A youth product of Santos FC, Juninho signed a contract with club since 2004. He made his Campeonato Brasileiro debut on 3 December 2006 (last round), as sub, winning Santa Cruz 3–1. On 1 August 2007 he left for Itumbiara until the end of 2007 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C. He played the last 5 matches of the league stage 2, and scored a goal in the last round. Itumbiara failed to qualify for the next stage (round of 16). In December, he left for Rio Claro until the end of 2008 Campeonato Paulista. He played 3 time that season, in round 2, 7 and 8. On 1 May 2009 he signed a 2-year contract with Santo André but loaned to Palestra de São Bernardo of Campeonato Paulista Segunda Divisão, along with team-mate Jefferson and Cadu. In 2010, the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B, the second level of the Brazilian League, was contested by 20 clubs from May 7 to November 27, 2010. The top four teams in the table, former Brazilian Série A champions Coritiba and Bahia alongside Figueirense and América (MG), were promoted to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A to be contested in 2011, meanwhile the bottom four were relegated to Série C next season. Three former Brazilian champion played in this edition: Bahia and 2009 relegated Coritiba and Sport Recife. Campeonato Brasileiro Série C
The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C is the third tier of the Brazilian football league system. Unlike the first and second divisions, the Série C is not played in a double round robin system, arguably because many participating teams lack the financial conditions to travel long distances. Thus, the tournament is organized in regional groups and the table prevents teams from distant states from playing each other in the initial rounds. Until 2008, any professional team could apply, but only 64 teams would take part in the tournament. The teams that had been relegated from the Série B in the previous year were joined by teams qualified for each federation state.
