Jungle Child (film)
''Jungle Child'' (german: Dschungelkind) is a 2011 German drama film directed by Roland Suso Richter. The film is the screen adaptation of the autobiographical bestseller books by Sabine Kuegler tells her experience living with a native tribe of Western Papua, Indonesia from 1979 to 1989. Plot Klaus Kuegler is a linguist and travels with his wife Doris and his three children into the tropical rainforest of Western New Guinea, Indonesia in 1979 to explore the language of a newly discovered native tribe, the Fayu people, Fayu. The eight-year-old daughter Sabine quickly settles down. What the family does not know: It has come in the midst of a tribal feud whose battles they do not directly affect, but in which they are increasingly drawn into it. Roland Suso Richter
Roland Suso Richter (born January 7, 1961 in Marburg) is a German film director and producer. Biography Richter was born in Marburg and lived there until making his Abitur in 1980 at the local Elisabethschule. Wanting to pursue a film career, he worked as an intern for video productions and as an actor on stage. In 1982, he appeared as an extra in Rainer Werner Fassbinder's ''Veronika Voss''. A year later, he and actor Frank Röth produced their first film, ', which was released in 1985. Many TV films followed until '' 14 Days to Life'' was released in 1997, earning Richter favorable reviews. The 1999 film ''After the Truth'', a fictional account of an 80-year-old Josef Mengele's trial before a German court, did not receive funding from the German film foundation due to its controversial theme. Sabine Kuegler (born 25 December 1972 in Patan, Nepal) is a German author. She has written several books, two of which have been translated into English. These two books are related to her uncommon childhood: from age 7 to age 17 she lived with her parents and two siblings in the jungle of Waropen, Papua (province) in Indonesia, with the remote tribe of the Fayu. Her parents were the first whites to live with the newly discovered tribe of about 400 people, who hunted with bow and arrow, ate snakes, insects and worms, and practiced intertribal warfare and revenge killings.
