Jun Limpot
Zandro P. Limpot Jr. (born December 14, 1971), also known as Jun Limpot, is a Filipino former professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association. Playing career As a De La Salle Green Archer, Limpot led his team to two UAAP basketball titles (1989 and 1990). He shares the record of being a 3-time UAAP Most Valuable Player. He then played for Magnolia Ice Cream in the Philippine Basketball League, PBL for four years from 1989 to 1993. He led the team to four conference championships and he won a Philippine Basketball League, PBL Most Valuable Player Award in the process. Aside from that, he also was part of the Philippines men's national basketball team, national basketball team of the Philippines that won the Gold Medal at the 1991 Manila SEA Games. UAAP Basketball Championship
The UAAP Basketball Championship holds its basketball tournaments from September to December. Basketball is a mandatory sport in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). All eight universities participate in the Men's, Women's, and Juniors (Boys') tournaments. The tournament is divided into two divisions, the Seniors' division, which is further subdivided into the Men's tournament, for male collegiate players, and the Women's tournament for female collegiate players. The other division is the Juniors' which is also subdivided into two tournaments for the male and female high school athletes. The UAAP basketball sport has a rich history of schools establishing dynasties. UE won a record seven consecutive basketball titles from 1965 to 1971 albeit the third one was a shared championship with UST. Ateneo had a 5-year winning streak from 2008 to 2012. 1991 Southeast Asian Games
The 1991 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 16th Southeast Asian Games, was a multi-sport event held in Manila, the Philippines from 24 November to 3 December 1991, with 28 sports featured in the games. This was the second time that the country hosted the games and its first since 1981. It was officially opened by President Corazon Aquino at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila through a colorful opening ceremony. It was the only SEA Games at that time where the overall championship was heavily contested. The deciding medal came from the last sporting event - women's marathon where Indonesia got the gold medal. Four sports (archery, canoeing, sailing, and triathlon) were held in venues in Subic Bay. Fourteen years after the 1991 SEA Games, the country hosted the 2005 SEA Games. Basketball At The 1989 Southeast Asian Games
The basketball tournament at the 1989 Southeast Asian Games took place from 21 to 25 August 1989. This edition of the tournament featured both men's and women's tournament. All matches took place at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur. After the round robin tournament, , by virtue of defeating the defending champions the , won the championship for their second title since the 1979 edition. As of 2017, Malaysia is the only other country to win the men's basketball championship as the Philippines managed to reclaim the title in the 1991 edition and haven't relinquished it since (defending the title for the 12th consecutive time). The 1989 Southeast Asian Games ( ms, Sukan Asia Tenggara 1989), officially known as the 15th Southeast Asian Games, was a multi-sport event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 20 to 31 August 1989 with 25 sports featured in the games. The basketball tournaments of UAAP Season 76 were held in school year 2013-14. Adamson University was both season host and basketball tournaments host. As season host, Adamson was the producer of the opening ceremony on June 29, 2013. As to being tournament host, Adamson was responsible for the scheduling of games, booking of game venues and distribution of game tickets to member schools.
