Jump Up! (Elton John Album)
''Jump Up!'' is the sixteenth studio album by English musician Elton John. It was released in 1982 by The Rocket Record Company except in the US and Canada, where it was released by Geffen Records. Background The album includes "Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny)", a tribute to John Lennon (who had also signed to Geffen for the release of ''Double Fantasy'', which is now owned by EMI). This is one of the first few LPs that showcases John singing in a deeper voice, as can be heard in songs such as "Blue Eyes", "Princess", " Ball and Chain" and "Spiteful Child". "Legal Boys" was written by John and Tim Rice, who later wrote lyrics for ''The Lion King'' and ''The Road to El Dorado''. This is the last studio album in which James Newton Howard played keyboards (although he would play keyboards with John again on the soundtrack of ''Gnomeo & Juliet'' almost 30 years later). ''Smash Hits'' was a British music magazine aimed at young adults, originally published by EMAP. It ran from 1978 to 2006, and, after initially appearing monthly, was issued fortnightly during most of that time. The name survived as a brand for a Spin-off (media), spin-off Smash Hits (TV channel), digital television channel, now named Box Hits, and website. Martin George Page (born 23 September 1959) is an English singer-songwriter and bassist. Gary Osborne (born 1949 in London) is an English singer and songwriter. He chaired The Songwriters Executive of the British Academy Of Songwriters Composers and Authors for 12 years during which time he was also chairman of The Ivor Novello Awards. Career Born in London in 1949, Osborne is the son of the late musical director Tony Osborne. He was educated in Switzerland and entered the music industry at the age of 15. Vance Matthew Buck (February 5, 1961 – July 6, 1992) was an American entrepreneur, best known for his long-term relationship with Elton John. Biography Vance Buck was born on February 5, 1961, in Richmond, Virginia. In 1975, he moved to Manhattan, where he became immersed in the burgeoning punk rock scene. A talented entrepreneur, he soon became a luminary in New York City's underground nightlife. Bernie Taupin
Bernard John Taupin (born 22 May 1950) is an English songwriter, singer and visual artist. He is best known for his long-term collaboration with musician Elton John, a songwriting partnership that is one of the most successful in history.
