Edward Jump
Edward Jump (1831?-1883) was a French-American artist popular for his drawings and sketches in the United States during the mid-19th Century. Biography Jump was born in Paris, France, around 1831. His early life is not well documented, but he emigrated to California in 1852, attracted to the United States by the California Gold Rush. He traveled in the Western United States, returned to Paris for a short time and then back to the U.S. While living in California, Jump, who was both a talented painter and cartoonist, made a living drawing commercial signs, painting portraits, and producing humorous cartoons of political figures for various publications. He worked in many places around the state, but mostly in San Francisco; there he created labels for whiskey bottles, and caricatures of contemporary figures. Alexander Gordon Jump (April 1, 1932 – September 22, 2003) was an American actor best known as the clueless, yet occasionally wise, radio station manager Arthur "Big Guy" Carlson in the TV series ''WKRP in Cincinnati'' and the incompetent Chief of Police Tinkler in the sitcom ''Soap''. Jump guest starred on a two-part episode of the 1980s sitcom ''Diff'rent Strokes'', in which he portrayed a pedophile who tries to molest main characters Arnold and his friend, Dudley. He also played the "Maytag Repairman" in commercials for Maytag brand appliances, from 1989 until his retirement from the role in July 2003. Jaume Marquet i Cot (), more popularly known as Jimmy Jump (born 14 March 1976), is a streaker from Sabadell, Catalonia, Spain, known for interfering in several major entertainment and sporting events. Incidents Football On 4 July 2004, during the UEFA Euro 2004 final between Greece and Portugal, Marquet threw an FC Barcelona flag at the Portuguese captain – Luís Figo – who left that team to join their archrivals, Real Madrid CF, in 2000. In the semi-final of 2005-06 UEFA Champions League between Villarreal CF and Arsenal FC, he ran on the track just before the start of the second half. Russell Jump
Frank Russell Jump (March 16, 1895 – April 18, 2000) was Mayor of Wichita, Kansas, serving from 1952 to 1953. Born in Illinois, Jump's family moved to Kansas, the state where he would spend most of his life, when he was a child. After briefly attending Kansas State University, Jump decided to join the war effort and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley's School of Military Aeronautics. Although he never flew any combat missions, aviation would become a significant part of the rest of his life. After marrying and returning to Kansas, Jump started a uniform manufacturing company with his wife Florence, and had a daughter, Marjorie. He served as city commissioner of Wichita, Kansas for several years, before becoming the city's mayor. During his brief stint, his most noted achievement was the sale of the city's airport to the United States Air Force, which later became McConnell Air Force Base.
