Camille Jullian
Camille Jullian (15 March 1859 – 12 December 1933) was a French historian, philologist, archaeologist and historian of literature. A Professor of ancient history and classics at the University of Bordeaux from 1891, Jullian was awarded a chair at the Collège de France in 1905, where he taught national antiquities until 1930. He was made Grand Officier de la Légion d'Honneur in 1926, and was elected to the Académie française in 1924. Jullian is the author of a monumental ''Histoire de la Gaule'', published in eight volumes between 1907 and 1928, which has influenced Celtic studies throughout the 20th century. Guillermo Jullian De La Fuente
Guillermo Jullian de la Fuente was a Chilean architect and painter (1931 in Valparaíso, Chile – 2008 in Santiago, Chile). After finishing his studies of architecture at the Catholic University of Valparaiso, Jullian left his country for Europe, with the declared desire to work with the Swiss architect Le Corbusier. Biography Together with his wife, he visited the Le Corbusier's works throughout Europe, before settling in Paris in 1958. There, he wrote a letter to Le Corbusier where he told him about Valparaíso and he declared his admiration for his work, asking him for work at his atelier. After a short exchange of letters, Jullian started working at the ''rue de Sèvres'' atelier in 1959, where he would stay until his master's death in 1965. After Le Corbusier fired all his previous collaborators, Jullian was his only employee for six months, until others started to arrive there. Ginette Marie Hélène Jullian (born, 8 December 1917, Montpellier, France - died, 4 August 1962, Tahiti), code named Adele, was an agent of the United Kingdom's clandestine Special Operations Executive (SOE) organization during World War II. The purpose of SOE was to conduct espionage, sabotage, and reconnaissance in occupied Europe against the Axis powers, especially Nazi Germany. SOE agents allied themselves with resistance groups and supplied them with weapons and equipment parachuted in from England. Jullian was a wireless operator for the Permit network (or circuit) of SOE in France in 1944. Life Jullian lived in Algeria as a child, married at age sixteen, and was later divorced. In 1940, after the German invasion, she fled France for England. Philippe Jullian
Philippe Jullian (real name: ''Philippe Simounet''; 11 July 1919 – 25 September 1977) was a French illustrator, art historian, biographer, aesthete, novelist and dandy. Early life Jullian was born in Bordeaux in 1919. His maternal grandfather was the historian Camille Jullian, known for his multi-volume history of Gaul; his mother had married a man named Simounet, a war veteran whose life ended in poverty and whose name Philippe rejected in favor of his more distinguished grandfather's. Jullian studied literature at university but left to pursue drawing and painting. In his later years, he resided in England but regularly spent winters in Africa. He also travelled extensively in India and Egypt.
