Julio Nudler
Julio Nudler (16 December 1941 – 27 July 2005) was an Argentine economic journalist. Nudler wrote for La Opinión, Clarín and La Razón before he became head of the economics section of Página/12 in 1990. In 2004 an article, in which he impeached Alberto Fernández who was the chief of the cabinet of Néstor Kirchner with corruption allegations, was not published by Página/12. ''La Opinión'' was an Argentine newspaper, founded by the journalist Jacobo Timerman in 1971. Its ideology was broadly centrist, inspired partly by the Paris daily ''Le Monde''. History Timerman, an Argentine Jewish immigrant from Ukraine, had previously launched numerous successful news publications in Argentina, notably ''Primera Plana'' and '' Confirmado'' news magazines. Billed as "the news daily for the great minority" in an initial publicity campaign written by a friend of Timerman, author Pedro Orgambide, ''La Opinión'' adopted an editorial line described by Timerman as "rightist economically, centrist politically and leftist culturally." ''Clarín'' (, meaning "Bugle"), is the largest newspaper in Argentina and the second most circulated in the Spanish-speaking world. It was founded by Roberto Noble in 1945, published by the Clarín Group. For many years, its director was Ernestina Herrera de Noble, the founder's wife. ''La Razón'' was a local newspaper distributed in the public transport in Buenos Aires, Argentina. History It was founded in 1905 by Argentine journalist Emilio Morales as an afternoon (''Quinta edición'') and evening (''Sexta edición'') newspaper in broadsheet format. The daily was acquired by a prominent news editor, José A. Cortejarena, in 1911 and became the first newspaper in Argentina owned by a journalist. Cortejarena died in 1921, and the paper was directed by Ángel L. Sojo, during whose tenure ''La Razón'' became known for scooping the city's numerous other papers. The daily also became the first to publish cartoonist Dante Quinterno's ''Patoruzú'' (an enduring Argentine comic strip) in 1928. Horacio Verbitsky (born February 11, 1942) is an Argentine investigative journalist and author with a history as a leftist guerrilla in the Montoneros. In the early 1990s, he reported on a series corruption scandals in the administration of President Carlos Menem, which eventually led to the resignations or firings of many of Menem's ministers. In 1994, he reported on the confessions of naval officer Adolfo Scilingo, documenting torture and executions by the Argentine military during the 1976–83 Dirty War. His books on both the Menem administration and the Scilingo confessions became national bestsellers. As of January 2015 Verbitsky is a Commissioner for the International Commission against the Death Penalty.
