Julie Saunders married name Julie Leake, is an English female international Bowls, lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Saunders won the List of Bowls England Women's National Championships, English National title in 2005 representing Hampshire. By winning the National title she represented England at the 2006 World Singles Champion of Champions event in Christchurch, New Zealand where she won the gold medal defeating Julie Keegan in the final. In 2011 she won the fours gold medal and the triples silver medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. In 2022, she won the champion of champions title at the 2022 Bowls England National Finals. Personal life Saunders is a sports coach at Bryanston School, near Blandford Forum and married fellow bowler Roy Leake (a former fours National finalist) in Las Vegas during 2012. Corfe Mullen
Corfe Mullen is a village in Dorset, England, on the north-western urban fringe of the South East Dorset conurbation. The village had a population of 10,133 at the 2011 Census. Atlantic Bowls Championships
The Atlantic Bowls Championships was a lawn bowling competition held between national bowls organisations in the Atlantic region. The event was a qualifying event for the World Outdoor Bowls Championships until the 2021 announcement that it would no longer be held. Originally the Championships were for women only and were called the Atlantic Rim Championships. In 2007 men competed for the first time at the event. The 2001 tournament due to be held in Namibia was cancelled due to opposition from the Namibia Sports Commission. The next tournament was held in 2005. In 2021, the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship was officially cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. World Bowls then decided that the World Championships would take place every two years starting in 2023. The English Bowls Association was the governing body of bowls in England until 2007. From 2008 onwards, Bowls England was formed, which now runs the sport. The national finals for bowls are held annually, where either 1, 2 or 3 representatives from each county compete for the national titles. 2022 Bowls England National Finals
The 2022 Bowls England National Finals are a series of lawn bowls events to determine the National champions of England. The Championships are being held from 25 August to 11 September 2022, at the Royal Leamington Spa Bowls Club in Victoria Park, Leamington Spa. They are organised by Bowls England, and are open to lawn bowlers who qualify via their County Championships. Sam Tolchard successfully defended his two wood singles title. Rebecca Moorbey became only the second woman (after Sophie Tolchard) to secure both the women's singles and women's junior singles titles. Bowls, also known as lawn bowls or lawn bowling, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". It is played on a bowling green, which may be flat (for "flat-green bowls") or convex or uneven (for "crown green bowls"). World Singles Champion Of Champions
The World Singles Champion of Champions is an event inaugurated in 2003 that is contested annually between bowlers who have won their respective national singles title. The event was first held in 2003 at the Moama Bowling Club in Moama, Australia. Traditionally the competition favours the Southern Hemisphere players due to the fact that the Northern Hemisphere players have to travel to the event and compete on faster greens. No male player has managed to win the title a second time and the only female to achieve two wins is Jo Edwards of New Zealand. Julie Keegan is a female Australian international lawn bowls player. Bowls career In 2008, she won the gold medal in the fours and silver medal in the triples at the 2008 World Championships. Two years later she won a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the Women's triples event. In addition she has won three medals at Asia Pacific Championships. In 2007 a triples silver and fours bronze and in 2009 a triples silver. Keegan had played in over 100 test matches for Australia. Keegan has won the Hong Kong International Bowls Classic pairs title twice, twice (with Kelsey Cottrell) in 2009 and 2010. Blandford Forum ( ), commonly Blandford, is a market town in Dorset, England, sited by the River Stour, Dorset, River Stour about northwest of Poole.
