Julie Menghini (born April 18, 1964) is a former Democratic House Minority Whip of the Kansas House of Representatives, who represented the 3rd district from 2005 to 2011, and again from 2013-2015. She served on the Joint Committee on Kansas Security, Elections and Transportation Committees as well as the House Taxation Committee, where she was the ranking minority member. Terry Calloway (born August 6, 1954) is former a Republican member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing the 3rd district ( Pittsburg) from 2011 to 2013. Calloway was first elected to office in 2010, where he defeated the incumbent Julie Menghini. Calloway was raised in Greenville, South Carolina. He attended Greenville Technical College and was a draftsman working in mechanical engineering related fields. He later moved to Pittsburg, Kansas and attended Pittsburg State University earning a bachelor's degree in computer science in 1988. That year he established Data Technique, a computer software and consulting firm. He is a Baptist. Pittsburg is a city in Crawford County, Kansas, United States, located in southeast Kansas near the Missouri state border. It is the most populous city in Crawford County and southeast Kansas. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 20,646. It is home of Pittsburg State University. History On October 23, 1864, a wagon train of refugees had come from Fort Smith, Arkansas, and was escorted by troops from the 6th Kansas Cavalry under the command of Col. William Campbell. These were local men from Cherokee, Crawford, and Bourbon counties. Their enlistment was over, and they were on their way to Fort Leavenworth to be dismissed from service.
