Julie Chávez Rodriguez
Julie Chávez Rodriguez (born 1979) is an American political rights activist and the director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. She grew up in California in a well-known family of American labor and civil rights activists, the granddaughter of American labor leader, César Chávez and American labor activist Helen Fabela Chávez. From 2008 to 2016, Rodriguez served in the Obama administration, initially working for the United States Secretary of the Interior and later in the White House Office of Public Engagement. She was appointed state director for Senator Kamala Harris in 2016. She later served on the Kamala Harris 2020 presidential campaign from 2017 to 2019. In 2020, Rodriguez was hired by the Joe Biden 2020 presidential campaign as senior advisor for Latino outreach. Tehachapi High School
Tehachapi High School is the single comprehensive high school serving students in grades 9–12 in the Tehachapi, California area. Tehachapi High School is part of the Tehachapi Unified School District, a K-12 school district. Tehachapi High School has a current enrollment of 1,500-plus, with district enrollment of approximately 4,900. THS has the reputation of being one of the preferred educational programs in Kern County, with test scores higher than many other high schools in the county, and highly honored athletics and activity programs. The high school was founded circa 1928. Classes were held in a home originally built by Russell Peery in the 1890s in Cummings Valley. The house was dismantled and moved to Tehachapi where it served as the high school until the original high school buildings could be completed. United Farm Workers
The United Farm Workers of America, or more commonly just United Farm Workers (UFW), is a labor union for farmworkers in the United States. It originated from the merger of two workers' rights organizations, the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee (AWOC) led by organizer Larry Itliong, and the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) led by César Chávez and Dolores Huerta. They became allied and transformed from workers' rights organizations into a union as a result of a series of strikes in 1965, when the mostly Filipino farmworkers of the AWOC in Delano, California, initiated a grape strike, and the NFWA went on strike in support.
