Juliana Kaduya
Juliana Kaduya (born 1979) is a Malawian politician and teacher who was the first female mayor of Lilongwe City Council, Malawi. Kaduya served in this position between 2019 and 2021. Background and education Kaduya was born in 1979 and raised by her elder sister after both her parents passed on. After her formal education, she obtained a Diploma in Teaching having studied at Domasi Teachers College. Career Kaduya worked as a teacher for 15 years before she joined active politics In 2014, Kaduya contested for Councillor for Chilinde 1 Ward,Lilongwe City South Constituency, on the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ticket. The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is a politics of Malawi, political party in Malawi. It was formed as a successor party to the banned Nyasaland African Congress when the country, then known as Nyasaland, was under British rule. The MCP, under Hastings Banda, presided over Malawian independence in 1964, and from 1966 to 1993 was one-party state, the only legal party in the country. It has continued to be a major force in the country since losing power. The Democratic Progress Party ( Turkish: ''Demokratik Gelişim Partisi,'' abbreviated DGP) was a political party in Turkey which adhered to liberal conservatism. It was founded by Kütahya Member of Parliament İdris Bal on 4 November 2014. Bal had left the governing Justice and Development Party (AKP) in November 2013 after Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan fell out with Gülen following the 2013-14 anti-government protests. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is a political party in Malawi. The party was formed in February 2005 by Malawian President Bingu wa Mutharika after a dispute with the United Democratic Front (UDF), which was led by his predecessor, Bakili Muluzi. History The DPP party is an offshoot of the United Democratic Front. The UDF was formed by Bingu wa Mutharika and Bakili Muluzi and came to power in 1994 under Muluzi. After Muluzi's two terms were over, Mutharika succeeded him as head of the party and nation. However, Muluzi remained involved in running the party; therefore Mutharika formed his own party, the Democratic Progressive Party, in early 2005. Many UDF members defected to the new DPP party. Lilongwe (, , ) is the capital and most populated city of the African country of Malawi. It has a population of 989,318 as of the 2018 Census, up from a population of 674,448 in 2008.
