Julia Dujmovits
Julia Dujmovits (born 12 June 1987) is an Austrian snowboarder. Dujmovits won silver in the parallel giant slalom at the 2013 FIS Snowboarding World Championships. She won a gold in the same discipline at the 2013 Winter Universiade. At the Sochi Olympics in 2014, she became the first Austrian to win gold in snowboarding. She was present at the Kaprun Funicular Disaster on 11 November 2000, a fire which claimed the lives of 155 people including Julia's friends and teammates. "Since there was a snowboarding event on that day and a big line at the cable railway, my brother suggested taking the gondola instead, a decision which ultimately saved our lives." Güssing
Güssing (; hu, Németújvár, Német-Újvár, hr, Novi Grad) is a town in Burgenland, Austria. It is located at , with a population of 3,578 (2022), and is the administrative center of the Güssing district. For centuries the town occupied an important position on the western edge of the Kingdom of Hungary. Kaprun Disaster
The Kaprun disaster was a fire that occurred in an ascending train in the tunnel of the Gletscherbahn Kaprun 2 funicular in Kaprun, Austria, on 11 November 2000. The disaster killed 155 people (150 on the ascending train, two on the descending train and three in the mountain station). There were 12 survivors (10 Germans and two Austrians) from the burning ascending train. Most of the victims were skiers on their way to the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. Train The Gletscherbahn Kaprun 2 was a funicular railway running from Kaprun to the Kitzsteinhorn, which opened in 1974. In 1993, it was modernized. The 2013 Winter Universiade, the XXVI Winter Universiade, was a winter multi-sport event which took place in Trentino, Italy between 11 and 21 December 2013. This was the first time that a Winter Universiade happened after the Summer Universiade in same the year and in the end of the year and missing two months for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. Originally, it was planned to take place in Maribor, Slovenia in late January and early February, but the Government of Slovenia overturned its decision to partially fund the project due to financial problems in February 2012. In March 2012, the International University Sports Federation decided that it would organise the Universiade elsewhere.
