Written between 1921 and 1924, it received its first theatrical production under the title ''Im Dickicht'' ("In the jungle") at the Residenztheater in Munich, opening on 9 May 1923. Padua Playwrights Productions, or Padua, is a Los Angeles-based theater company founded in 1978 by playwright and poet Murray Mednick. The iO West (formerly known as the "ImprovOlympic West") was the Los Angeles branch of the iO in Chicago. The theater was located at 6366 Hollywood Blvd., in Hollywood, California.
