Jules Jacques Benoit Benedict
Jules Jacques Benois Benedict (April 22, 1879 – January 16, 1948) was one of the most prominent architects in Colorado history, whose works include a number of well-known landmarks and buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Biography Commonly known as Jacques Benedict, he was born in Chicago in 1879, and he studied architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts. He came to Denver in 1909, and became renowned for his many prominent works including homes, churches, academic and public buildings, spanning a range of architectural styles and with a particular gift for melding with natural landscapes. Benedict married June Louise Brown in Denver on February 20, 1912, and was hired to be the architect of the Denver archdiocese of the Catholic Church, becoming a respected authority on sacred architecture. Summit Lake Park
Summit Lake Park is a park located along Mount Evans Scenic Byway about 64 miles (100 km) west of Denver, Colorado. The park is 160 acres (0.65 km²) in size and contains alpine tundra. Land to the east of the lake is in a state of permafrost which helps to prevent drainage of the area. During the summer, the park is filled with wildflowers, some of which have not been found anywhere else outside of the Arctic Circle. The park is named after Summit Lake, the headwaters of Bear Creek. Summit Lake Summit Lake is a tarn which sits at 12,836 feet (3,912 m) elevation in a glacial cirque on the north face of Mount Evans and the east face of Mount Spalding. Highlands Ranch is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by Douglas County, Colorado, United States. The CDP is a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Echo Lake Park
Echo Lake Park is a park located along the Mount Evans Scenic Byway about west of Denver, Colorado. The park provides a stone shelter with picnic tables and barbecue grills on one end of the lake, and the 1926 Echo Lake Lodge (gift shop and restaurant service only) and an Arapaho National Forest campground are found at the other. Access to backpacking trails, including the Chicago Lakes trail and Lincoln Lakes trail, can be found adjacent to the lake. The park is part of the Denver Mountain Parks system. Dedisse Park
Dedisse Park is a Denver Mountain Park located in Jefferson County, Colorado, USA. It was originally the scenic mountain ranch of 1860s pioneer Julius C. Dedisse; this of land was purchased by the City & County of Denver in 1919. In 1927-28 Denver constructed the high Evergreen Dam as a flood control measure on the notoriously flood-prone Bear Creek, creating the Evergreen Lake which became an instant hit with recreationists in summer and winter. Daniels Park
Daniels Park, a former working ranch in Douglas County, Colorado near Sedalia, Colorado, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. The park is one of the Denver Mountain Parks. A herd of bison lives in the park, and the bison graze on the prairie grass in the park's upper elevations. Because of the presence of the Bison, most of the park is not open to the public. Herman Coors House
The Herman Coors House, in Golden, Colorado, was the home of Herman Frederick Coors (1890-1967). It was originally built as a modest bungalow in 1915 by Elmer Johnson, who in 1934 built the brewhouse of the Coors Brewery. In 1917 the house was purchased by Coors, third son of Adolph Coors, who hired architect Jacques Benedict to transform it into a Tudor Revival style home, with a wooden arch front door canopy and stone terracing. Coors was the manager of the Coors Porcelain Company, and in 1921 moved to Inglewood, California where he established the H.F. Coors China Company to manufacture porcelain dishware. The house was then purchased by banker Edward A. Phinney, who owned the Rubey National Bank in Golden. He built a companion cottage and barn behind the house in 1928.
