Jules, Prince Of Guéméné
Jules de Rohan (Jules Hercule Mériadec; 25 March 1726 – 10 December 1800) was Prince of Guéméné. Born in Paris, he died in Carlsbourg. Biography Jules was the oldest son of Hercule Mériadec, Prince of Guéméné (1688–1757) and Louise Gabrielle Julie de Rohan (1704–1741), daughter of Hercule Mériadec de Rohan, Prince of Soubise and Anne Geneviève de Lévis On 10 February 1743 he married Marie Louise de La Tour d'Auvergne (1725–1793), daughter of Charles Godefroy de La Tour d'Auvergne, Duke of Bouillon (1706–1771) and Maria Karolina Sobieska. Jules and Marie Louise had only one son, Henri Louis de Rohan, who married a cousin, Victoire de Rohan, daughter of Charles de Rohan, Prince of Soubise and Anne Therese of Savoy. The Prince of Guéméné died in Belgium aged 74, his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren fled to Bohemia before the French Revolution, his wife having predeceased him in 1788. Prince Of Guéméné
Prince of Guémené is a title of French nobility associated with the fiefdom of Guémené-sur-Scorff in Brittany and held within the House of Rohan. The fiefdom was bought on 26 May 1377, for 3,400 ''Sou (coin), sous d'or'' by Jean de Rohan, Viscount of Rohan. From his second marriage to Jeanne de Navarre (daughter of Philip III of Navarre) the couple had two children; the eldest Alain became the Viscount of Rohan. That branch became extinct in 1527. Charles de Rohan (16 July 17151 July 1787), Prince of Soubise, Duke of Rohan-Rohan, Seigneur of Roberval, and Marshal of France from 1758, was a soldier, and minister to kings Louis XV and Louis XVI. He was the last male of his branch of the House of Rohan, and was great-grandfather to the Duke of Enghien, executed by Napoleon in 1804. Ferdinand Maximilien Mériadec de Rohan (1738–1813) was an Archbishop of Bordeaux starting in 1769, and Prince-Archbishop of Cambrai from 1781. He was the son of Hercule Meriadec de Rohan, prince de Guéméné and Louise-Gabrielle Julie de Rohan; brother of cardinal de Rohan, and Jules, prince de Guéméné. Mériadec was a chaplain of the Empress Joséphine de Beauharnais. He served as prior and doctor of the Sorbonne and provost of the church of Strasbourg. He was nominated Archbishop of Bordeaux by King Louis XV on 26 December 1769, and his bulls were granted by Pope Clement XIV in the Consistory of 29 January 1770. Louis René Édouard de Rohan known as Cardinal de Rohan (25 September 1734 – 16 February 1803), ''prince de Rohan-Guéméné'', was a French Bishop of Strasbourg, politician, cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, and cadet of the Rohan family (which traced its origin to the kings of Brittany). His parents were Hercule Mériadec, Prince of Guéméné and Louise Gabrielle Julie de Rohan. He was born in Paris. Anne Marie Louise de La Tour d'Auvergne (1 August 1722 – 19 September 1739) was a French noblewoman and the wife of Charles de Rohan. She was Marchioness of Gordes and Countess of Moncha in her own right as well as Princess of Soubise by marriage. She died aged seventeen in childbirth.
