Author
An author is the writer of a book, article, play, mostly written work. A broader definition of the word "author" states: "''An author is "the person who originated or gave existence to anything" and whose authorship determines responsibility for what was created''." Typically, the first owner of a copyright is the person who created the work, i.e. the author. If more than one person created the work (i.e., multiple authors), then a case of joint authorship takes place. The copyright laws are have minor differences in various jurisdictions across the United States. Picture Books
A picture book combines visual and verbal narratives in a book format, most often aimed at young children. With the narrative told primarily through text, they are distinct from comics, which do so primarily through sequential images. The images in picture books can be produced in a range of media, such as oil paints, acrylics, watercolor, and pencil. Picture books often serve as pedagogical resources, aiding with children's language development or understanding of the world. Three of the earliest works in the format of modern picture books are Heinrich Hoffmann's ''Struwwelpeter'' from 1845, Benjamin Rabier's ''Tintin-Lutin'' from 1898 and Beatrix Potter's ''The Tale of Peter Rabbit'' from 1902. Some of the best-known picture books are Robert McCloskey's ''Make Way for Ducklings'', Dr. Seuss's ''The Cat In The Hat'', and Maurice Sendak's ''Where the Wild Things Are''. The English Association is a subject association for English dedicated to furthering the study and enjoyment of English language and literature in schools, higher education institutes and amongst the public in general. It was founded in 1906 by a group of English scholars including F. S. Boas, A.C. Bradley and Sir Israel Gollancz. Since December 1993, the association has been based at the University of Leicester. Mouse, Look Out!
''Mouse, Look Out!'' is a 1998 children's picture book by Judy Waite and Norma Burgin. It is about a mouse being stalked by a cat. Plot summary In an isolated, abandoned cottage with "Danger Keep Out" on the wall, a brown mouse scampers around, at first unaware of being watched and followed by a stealthy black cat. The cat is also being watched, however, and is at last startled into running away. Writing is a medium of human communication which involves the representation of a language through a system of physically inscribed, mechanically transferred, or digitally represented symbols. Writing systems do not themselves constitute human languages (with the debatable exception of computer languages); they are a means of rendering language into a form that can be reconstructed by other humans separated by time and/or space.
