Judy Turner (principal)
Judith Anne Turner (born 2 August 1956) is a New Zealand politician who was the deputy leader of United Future New Zealand. She was a member of the New Zealand House of Representatives as a list MP from 2002 to 2008, and the mayor of Whakatāne from 2019 to 2022. Member of Parliament Turner was first elected as a United Future list MP at the 2002 election. In December 2004 United Future party members chose her as their deputy leader. In September 2005, Turner and Gordon Copeland became the only two United Future List MPs re-elected alongside Peter Dunne (who won an electorate seat). Although Copeland left the party in 2007, Turner indicated that she would remain within the United Future caucus. In the 2008 election, Turner stood as a United Future candidate for the East Coast electorate. United Future New Zealand
United Future New Zealand, usually known as United Future, was a centrist political party in New Zealand. The party was in government between 2005 and 2017, first alongside Labour (2005–2008) and then supporting National (2008–2017). United Future was formed from the merger of the liberal party United New Zealand and Christian-dominated conservative Future New Zealand to contest the 2002 election. It was represented in the New Zealand Parliament from its foundation until September 2017. The party won eight seats in 2002; however it was reduced to three Members of Parliament in 2005. Between 2008 and 2017, United Future was solely represented in Parliament by party leader Peter Dunne, who represented the Ōhāriu electorate in Wellington. The Kiwi Party
The Kiwi Party was a political party operating in New Zealand between 2007 and 2011. Briefly known as Future New Zealand, it was a breakaway from the United Future New Zealand party and sought to carry on the tradition of Future New Zealand. The party was formed when MP Gordon Copeland left United Future after a dispute over support for the Crimes (Substituted Section 59) Amendment Act 2007. At the 2008 general election, the Kiwi Party was unsuccessful, and was not re-elected to Parliament. It did not contest the 2011 general election under its own banner, but the leaders and other members stood for the Conservative Party. The party advocated more direct democracy through referendums and a return to the "Judeo-Christian ethic in democracy". Anthony Walton (politician)
Anthony John Walton (born 1962) is a former New Zealand political party president. He was leader of the Future New Zealand party, having previously been a prominent member of Future New Zealand's predecessor, the Christian Democrat Party (New Zealand), Christian Democrat Party. Before becoming president, Walton had been on the Christian Democrats' National Council since the party was launched in 1995. Walton championed Future New Zealand's merger with United New Zealand, creating the modern United Future New Zealand party in 2000. He was expected to take second place on United Future's party list but elected instead to pursue other career options. Walton is currently chief minister at the Olive Tree Church in Wellington. He is also associated with Zeal, an evangelical Christian youth enterprise and entertainment venue in that city. He has written on the subject of Christian apologetics and church formation. New Life Churches, New Zealand
New Life Churches, formerly known as New Life Churches International, is a Pentecostal Christian church movement in New Zealand. History Early influences date from the 1940s when a series of meetings conducted by overseas 'Bethel Temple' missionaries resulted in the planting of congregations in New Zealand and Australia. Some of its early leaders, including Morrow, attended a Bible college in Sydney in 1951. Further evangelistic campaigns and training occurred after 1957 and throughout the 1960s. In 1960, meetings began in Timaru that led to the establishment of Timaru New Life Centre. Also many evangelistic campaigns took place throughout New Zealand. The first missionaries were sent overseas in this period. Peter Morrow began work in Christchurch in 1962 as the pastor of the church there, which was then known as the Christchurch Revival Fellowship.
