Evan Alfred Evans (March 19, 1876 – July 7, 1948) was a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Education and career Born in Spring Green, Wisconsin, Evans received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1897 and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1899. He then practiced law in Baraboo, Wisconsin from 1900 to 1916. Federal judicial service Evans was nominated by President Woodrow Wilson on May 1, 1916, to a seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit vacated by Judge William Henry Seaman. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on May 10, 1916, and received his commission the same day. Orinda Dale Evans (born April 23, 1943) is an inactive Senior United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Early life and education Born in Savannah, Georgia, Evans received an Artium Baccalaureus degree from Duke University in 1965 and a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law in 1968. Career She was in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia from 1968 to 1979. She served as counsel to the Atlanta Crime Commission from 1970 to 1971, and was an adjunct professor of law at Emory from 1974 to 1977. Federal judicial service On June 5, 1979, Evans was nominated by President Jimmy Carter to a seat on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia vacated by Judge Albert John Henderson. Publius Terentius Afer (; – ), better known in English as Terence (), was a Roman African playwright during the Roman Republic. His comedies were performed for the first time around 166–160 BC. Terentius Lucanus, a Roman senator, brought Terence to Rome as a slave, educated him and later on, impressed by his abilities, freed him. It is thought that Terence abruptly died, around the age of 25, likely in Greece or on his way back to Rome, due to shipwreck or disease. His plays were heavily used to learn to speak and write in Latin during the Middle Ages and Renaissance Period, and in some instances were imitated by William Shakespeare. Walter Evans (September 18, 1842 – December 30, 1923) was a United States representative from Kentucky and a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Kentucky and of the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. Education and career Born on September 18, 1842, in Glasgow, Barren County, Kentucky, Evans attended the public schools near Harrodsburg, Kentucky. He moved to Hopkinsville, Christian County, Kentucky and served as deputy county clerk in 1859. He served in the Union Army from 1861 to 1863. He served as deputy and later chief clerk of the circuit court. He read law and was admitted to the bar in 1864. He entered private practice in Hopkinsville from 1864 to 1871. Walter Howard Evans (April 17, 1870 – July 13, 1959) was a judge of the United States Customs Court. Education and career Born on April 17, 1870, in New Middletown, Indiana, Evans received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1899 from Valparaiso University. He received a Bachelor of Laws in 1905 from the University of Oregon School of Law, then located in Portland, Oregon. He taught public school in Oregon from 1886 to 1898.
