Judge Dredd (IDW Publishing)
''Judge Dredd'' is a comic book series by IDW Publishing, based on the character of Judge Dredd from the British comic magazines '' 2000 AD'' and ''Judge Dredd Megazine''. The series is made up of an ongoing series, ''Judge Dredd'', and occasionally a miniseries. There is also a third series, titled ''Judge Dredd - Classics'', which is a republishing, in color, of the original British stories and is not part of the IDW continuity. ''Judge Dredd'' In November 2012, IDW Publishing began the ''Judge Dredd'' monthly series written by Duane Swierczynski and illustrated by Nelson Daniel. The series ended after 30 issues. ''2000 AD'' is a weekly British science fiction-oriented comic magazine. As a comics anthology it serialises stories in each issue (known as "progs") and was first published by IPC Magazines in 1977, the first issue dated 26 February. Since 2000 it has been published by Rebellion Developments. ''Judge Dredd: The Megazine'' is a monthly British comic magazine, launched in September 1990. It is a sister publication to '' 2000 AD''. Its name is a play on words, formed from "magazine" and Judge Dredd's locale Mega-City One. Content Like ''2000 AD'', ''Judge Dredd Megazine ''is an anthology, featuring both ongoing and stand-alone stories. Some series have comprised a specific storyline while others only a loose thematic connection. Saturn has made appearances in fiction since the 1752 novel ''Micromégas'' by Voltaire. In many of these works, the planet is inhabited by aliens that are usually portrayed as being more advanced than humans. The planet is occasionally visited by humans and its rings are sometimes mined for resources. The moons of Saturn have been depicted in a large number of stories, especially Titan with its Earth-like environment suggesting the possibility of colonization by humans and alien lifeforms living there. Free Comic Book Day
Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) is an annual promotional effort by the North American comic book industry to attract new readers to independent comic book stores. It usually takes place on the first Saturday of May and is often cross-promoted with the release of a superhero film. Over two thousand participating stores give away millions of comic books annually. The event was proposed by Joe Field in the August 2001 issue of '' Comics & Games Retailer'' magazine and Free Comic Book Day was launched in 2002, coordinated by the industry's single large distributor, Diamond Comic Distributors.
