Juanita (Underworld Song)
"Juanita" is the title of a 1997 promotional single release and a song by Underworld, and the first portion of the opening combined track "Juanita/Kiteless/To Dream of Love," from their 1996 album ''Second Toughest in the Infants''. The band also released different mixes of the track, including a live version on the 2000 live album '' Everything, Everything'', and as "Juanita 2022," on a May 2022 EP. Background The album version of the track is titled "Juanita/Kiteless/To Dream of Love," as "Juanita" forms only the first part of three in the track, with "Kiteless" and "To Dream of Love" pushing it to its length of over sixteen minutes. The "Promo Short Cut" version included on the promotional single cuts down the six-minutes "Juanita" part, and edits and fades it out to 3:49. The song was the regular set-opener of their ''Second Toughest in the Infants'' and ''Beaucoup Fish'' tours. Underworld are a British electronic music group formed in 1987 in Cardiff, Wales and the principal collaborative project of Karl Hyde and Rick Smith. Prominent former members include Darren Emerson, from 1991 to 2001, and Darren Price, as part of the live band from 2005 to 2016. The underworld, also known as the netherworld, is the supernatural world of the dead in various religious traditions and myths, located below the world of the living. Chthonic is the technical adjective for things of the underworld. The concept of an underworld is found in almost every civilization and "may be as old as humanity itself". Karl Hyde
Karl Hyde (born 10 May 1957) is an English musician and artist. He is a founding member of British electronic group Underworld. Hyde has also released a solo album, made albums with Brian Eno and Matthew Herbert, and contributed towards the score for the London 2012 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony alongside Rick Smith. He is a founding member of the multi-discipline design and film collective Tomato and has published several books. Career Hyde moved to Cardiff in the late 1970s to study at Cardiff College of Art. There he formed the new wave-synthpop band Freur in 1982 with Rick Smith and Alfie Thomas. The band released two albums, ''Doot-Doot'' (1983) and ''Get Us out of Here'' (1986), before relocating to Essex, and renaming themselves Underworld. They have continued to make music since. A Hundred Days Off
''A Hundred Days Off'' is the sixth album by Underworld. The album produced two UK Singles Chart entries: "Two Months Off", which reached no. 12 and "Dinosaur Adventure 3D", which reached no. 34. Although this was the first album since Darren Emerson's departure from the group in 2001, the album is not a huge stylistic makeover as the main focus of the band is still trance, techno, and house, although without the thumping beats that defined their previous longplayer ''Beaucoup Fish''. Instead, the album explores more of an ambient and experimental music style. Critical reception ''A Hundred Days Off'' received generally positive reviews from music critics. ''Second Toughest in the Infants'' is the fourth studio album by British electronic music group Underworld, and the second in their " MK2" line-up with Darren Emerson. With this album, Underworld expanded on their progressive palette, while developing their signature sound of abrasive beats and anthemic melodies. The name of the album derives from a comment made by member Rick Smith's six-year-old nephew, Simon Prosser, when asked on his progress at infant school (the level of schooling attended by four- to seven-year-old children in the United Kingdom). Everything, Everything (album)
''Everything, Everything'' is a live album by Underworld, released 4 September 2000 on Junior Boy's Own. The album is named after the lyrics in one of the songs, "Cowgirl". A companion DVD was released separately soon after the album's release. The DVD features live footage of the band mixed with videography and artistic effects by the design group Tomato, with Jono Griffith of Ernest Edits as 'Creative Editor'. The DVD also features several songs not on the album – "Moaner", "Puppies", "Kittens", and "Rowla".
