Juan Carlos Viera
Juan Carlos Viera Rossano (1938-2016) was a Seventh-day Adventist and was director of the Ellen G. White Estate from 1995 to 2000. A native of Uruguay, Viera was the first director of the White Estate to come from outside the North American Division. He holds an M.A. in Religion from Andrews University (1976) and a doctorate in Missiology from Fuller Theological Seminary. In 1998 he wrote the book "''The Voice of the Spirit: How God Has Led His People Through the Gift of Prophecy''" (Pacific Press, 1998; available online). The Seventh-day Adventist Church is an Adventism, Adventist Protestantism, Protestant Christian denomination which is distinguished by its observance of Saturday, the Names of the days of the week#Numbered days of the week, seventh day of the week in the Christian Gregorian calendar, (Gregorian) and the Hebrew calendar, as the Sabbath, and its emphasis on the imminent Second Coming (advent) of Jesus Christ. The Seventh-day Adventist Church had its roots in the Millerite movement of the 1830s to the 1840s, during the period of the Second Great Awakening, and was officially founded in 1863. The Seventh-day Adventist Church holds a unique system of eschatology, eschatological (or Eschatology, end-times) beliefs.
