Joëlle Van Noppen
Joëlle van Noppen (20 January 1980 – 12 May 2010) was a Dutch singer. Career Joëlle was born in Middelburg. She was a member of the Dutch girl group WOW! from 1997 to 2000. Until her death she was still active to a small extent as a cabaret singer in the band Copycat and performed salsa dancing. Wow (band)
WOW! was a Dutch girl group in the late and early 90's who were produced by the duo Bolland & Bolland. History WOW! scored their first hit in 1997 called ''Keer op Keer'', which came from their album ''Wild + Ondeugend''. The group scored another hit with ''Zomer'. The music video for ''The Night Before You Came'' was recorded in the Big Brother house. The band consisted of Denise Koopal, Jenske Moermond, Joëlle van Noppen, Mandy Gruijters and Naomi Louwerens. After each other, Van Noppen and Koopal left the group in 1999 and 2000 respectively. The band restarted in May 2001 under the new name Blaze. However, this was unsuccessful. WOW! appeared for the last time in its original line-up once in the radio program Coen and Sander Show. Salsa is a latin dance, associated with the music genre of the same name, which was first popularized in the United States in the 1960s in New York City. Salsa is an amalgamation of Cuban dances, such as mambo, pachanga and rumba, as well as American dances such as swing and tap. Origin Salsa dancing — as a dance to accompany salsa music — was popularized in the 1960s. It was primarily developed by Puerto Ricans and Cubans living in New York in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Afriqiyah Airways Flight 771 was a scheduled international Afriqiyah Airways passenger flight that crashed on 12 May 2010 at about 06:01 local time (04:01 UTC) on approach to Tripoli International Airport, about short of the runway. Of the 104 passengers and crew on board, 103 were killed. The sole survivor was a 9-year-old Dutch boy. The crash of Flight 771 was the third hull-loss of an Airbus A330 involving fatalities, occurring eleven months after the crash of Air France Flight 447.
