João da Silva is a Portuguese Association football, footballer who played as a Midfielder, half-back. Career Silva arrived at S.L. Benfica, Benfica in 1943, making his debut at the hands of Janos Biri on 28 November, against Vitória F.C., Vitória de Setúbal. With Joaquim Alcobia, Alcobia, Francisco Alves Albino, Albino and Francisco Ferreira (Portuguese footballer), Francisco Ferreira as competition, he was seen as back-up, playing only 15 games between league and cup in 1943–44 Primeira Divisão, 1943–44. Nonetheless, he played all seven games in the campaign winning run in the 1943–44 Taça de Portugal, Portuguese Cup, which included an 8–0 trashing of G.D. Estoril-Praia, Estoril in the final. João Silva (born 9August 1966) is a Portuguese-born South African war photographer. He is the last working member of the Bang-Bang Club, a group of photographers who covered South Africa from the time of Nelson Mandela's release from prison in 1990, to the country's first multiracial elections in 1994. He has worked in Africa, the Balkans, Central Asia, Russia, and the Middle East. In October 2010, Silva stepped on a land mine while on patrol with US soldiers in Kandahar, Afghanistan and lost his left leg below the knee, and his right leg from just above it. After recovery and receiving two prostheses, his first assignment out of Walter Reed Army Medical Center for '' The New York Times'' was at the White House. João Pedro Pereira Silva (born 21 May 1990) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for C.F. Estrela da Amadora as a striker.
