João Faria
João Carlos Silva Faria (born 12 July 1990) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Dumiense CJPII Futebol SAD. He played 47 games in Portugal's second tier for Benfica B, Famalicão and Trofense, but spent most of his career at a lower level, winning the third division with Varzim in 2012 and Trofense in 2021. Club career Born in Barcelos, Faria spent his first three years as a senior in the third division, with G.D. Ribeirão (two seasons) and Varzim SC. In the summer of 2012 he signed with S.L. Benfica, being assigned to the reserve team in the Segunda Liga. Faria made his debut as a professional on 26 August 2012, appearing in a 2–1 away loss against Associação Naval 1º de Maio. Barcelos, Portugal
Barcelos () is a city and a municipality in Braga District in the Minho Province, in the north of Portugal. The population in 2011 was 120,391, in an area of 378.90 km2. The Taça de Portugal (; "Cup of Portugal") is an annual association football competition and the premier knockout tournament in Portuguese football. For sponsorship reasons, it has been known as Taça de Portugal Placard since the 2015–16 season. Organised by the Portuguese Football Federation since it was first held in 1938, the competition is open to professional and amateur clubs from the top-four league divisions. The 2022–23 Taça de Portugal (also known as Taça de Portugal Placard for sponsorship reasons) is the 83rd edition of the Taça de Portugal, the premier knockout competition in Portuguese football. A total of 152 clubs competed in this edition, including all teams from the top four tiers of the Portuguese football league system – excluding reserve or B teams, which are not eligible – and representatives of the fifth-tier District leagues and cups. The Estádio Cidade de Barcelos is a multi-use stadium in Barcelos, Portugal. It is currently used mostly for football matches. It is the home of Primeira Liga side Gil Vicente. The stadium is able to hold 12,504 people and was built in 2004. It opened on 30 May 2004. The inaugural game saw Gil Vicente lose 2–1 to Uruguayan side Nacional de Montevideo. It replaced Estadio Adelino Ribeiro Novo which was Gil's home ground from its establishment in the 1920s until 2004. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Sporting CP B
Sporting Clube de Portugal B is the reserve team of Portuguese football club Sporting CP, a team based in Lisbon. Reserve teams in Portugal play in the same league system as the senior team, rather than in a reserve team league. However, they cannot play in the same division as their senior team, so Sporting B is ineligible for promotion to the Primeira Liga and could not play in the Taça de Portugal and Taça da Liga.
