Jozo Penava
Jozo Penava (26 May 1909 – 17 January 1987) was a Bosnian-Herzegovinian music producer, composer, arranger, musician and vocalist. Penava immensely contributed to the development of folk songs and the traditional Bosniak folk music sevdalinka. He worked with many prominent sevdalinka singers of the 20th century, such as Safet Isović, Zehra Deović, Himzo Polovina, Nada Mamula, Beba Selimović, Nedžad Salković, Silvana Armenulić, and Meho Puzić, among others. Biography Penava was born in the village of Palež near Kiseljak, in what is today Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a young man he studied to become a baker. Penava was in love with the craft of baking, but was never attracted to getting up early and working in high temperature kitchens. His passion for music was stronger. Josip "Jozo" Tomasevich (March 16, 1908 – October 15, 1994; hr, Josip Jozo Tomašević) was an American economist and military historian. He was professor emeritus at San Francisco State University. Education and career Tomašević was born in the village of Košarni Do on the Pelješac peninsula, Dalmatia, Austria-Hungary (today part of Orebić municipality, Croatia). He completed his secondary education in Sarajevo before moving to Switzerland to study at the University of Basel, from where he graduated with a Ph.D. in economics in 1932. Jozo Matošić (27 January 1913 – 1 March 1999) was a Yugoslav football coach and player. He was captain of the famous Hajduk Split side during World War II. He was also the older brother of Frane Matošić, Hajduk's best goalscorer of all time. Career He began his career at Hajduk Split as a goalkeeper but Luka Kaliterna made him a right-back. He was known for his great strength and character. He was also a regular player in the Yugoslavia national football team during the 1930s. He won the 1940–41 Croatian First League at that time also. Jozo Izaija Matovac (born 22 May 1970) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as defender. He represented BK Häcken, Örgryte IS, Aalborg BK, and Helsingborgs IF during a career that spanned between 1992 and 2002.
