Joyland (Trust Album)
''Joyland'' is the second studio album by Canadian electronic music project TR/ST, fronted by Robert Alfons. It was released on March 4, 2014 through Arts & Crafts Records in North America. The album debuted at No. 12 on the ''Billboard'' Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Three singles have been released to promote the album: "Rescue, Mister", "Capitol" and "Are We Arc?", all accompanied by music videos. Development The album was developed solely by Robert Alfons since Austra's Maya Postepski left TR/ST shortly after the release of their debut studio album. ''Joyland'' was "written in different places in the world while touring" as opposed to the first album which was primarily developed in Toronto. In Alfons' opinion that made a big difference, because the album was now influenced by the vast "energy from the live shows" and a boost of self-confidence. TR/ST
TR/ST (previously known as Trust) is a Canadian electronic music project of Robert Alfons. It was formed as a band in 2010 when Alfons met Maya Postepski of Austra. The project has spawned four albums so far: '' TRST'' (2012), '' Joyland'' (2014), ''The Destroyer (Part 1)'' and '' The Destroyer (Part 2)'' (2019). Alfons has also produced remixes for Feist, Moby, Zhala and Jonna Lee. Maya Alina Postepski is a Canadian musician and producer from Toronto. She has been making music for over ten years, best known as drummer of the electronic group, Austra. She is a prolific remix artist, DJ and she co-wrote and produced the 2012 album TRST with Robert Alfons as TR/ST (Arts & Crafts). She also performs solo under the title Princess Century. She released her second full-length LP, ''Progress'', on Paper Bag Records on October 16, 2015. In 2015 she moved to Belgium and Produced the album Forever by Soldout. She stopped working with Austra in May 2017 to focus on her solo project Princess Century and continues to Produce, DJ, make remixes and play drums for other bands including TR/ST. Telekom Electronic Beats (TEB) is an international music marketing program of Deutsche Telekom AG focusing on electronic music and international club culture. The program was founded in 2000. It comprises a media portfolio and has been organizing events such as concerts, festivals and club nights with mainly electronic music artists throughout Europe. Cocteau Twins
Cocteau Twins was a Scottish rock band active from 1979 to 1997. They were formed in Grangemouth by Robin Guthrie (guitars, drum machine) and Will Heggie (bass), adding Elizabeth Fraser (vocals) in 1981 and replacing Heggie with multi-instrumentalist Simon Raymonde in 1983. Techno
Techno is a genre of electronic dance music (EDM) which is generally produced for use in a continuous DJ set, with tempo often varying between 120 and 150 beats per minute (bpm). Acid House
Acid house (also simply known as just "acid") is a subgenre of house music developed around the mid-1980s by DJs from Chicago. The style is defined primarily by the squelching sounds and basslines of the Roland TB-303 electronic bass synthesizer-sequencer, an innovation attributed to Chicago producers DJ Pierre of Phuture and Sleezy D. Acid house soon became popular in the United Kingdom and continental Europe, where it was played by DJs in the acid house and later rave scenes.
