Journal Of The Royal Institute Of Chemistry
The ''Journal of the Royal Institute of Chemistry'' was a scientific journal published by the Royal Institute of Chemistry which combined with other societies in 1980 to form the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). It had various names, including those with the title of the Institute prior to gaining its royal charter:- * ''Journal of the Royal Institute of Chemistry'' (1950-1964) * ''Journal and Proceedings of the Royal Institute of Chemistry'' (1949) * ''Journal and Proceedings of the Royal Institute of Chemistry of Great Britain and Ireland'' (1944-1948) * ''Journal and Proceedings of the Institute of Chemistry of Great Britain and Ireland'' (1920-1943) * ''Proceedings of the Institute of Chemistry of Great Britain and Ireland'' (1877-1919) See also * Royal Institute of Chemistry Reviews * List of scientific journals * List of scientific journals in chemistry A ''list'' is any set of items in a row. Chemistry
Chemistry is the science, scientific study of the properties and behavior of matter. It is a natural science that covers the Chemical element, elements that make up matter to the chemical compound, compounds made of atoms, molecules and ions: their composition, structure, properties, behavior and the changes they undergo during a Chemical reaction, reaction with other Chemical substance, substances. Chemistry also addresses the nature of chemical bonds in chemical compounds. In the scope of its subject, chemistry occupies an intermediate position between physics and biology. It is sometimes called the central science because it provides a foundation for understanding both Basic research, basic and Applied science, applied scientific disciplines at a fundamental level. For example, chemistry explains aspects of plant growth (botany), the formation of igneous rocks (geology), how atmospheric ozone is formed and how environmental pollutants are degraded (ecology), the properties ...

Royal Society Of Chemistry
The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) is a learned society (professional association) in the United Kingdom with the goal of "advancing the chemistry, chemical sciences". It was formed in 1980 from the amalgamation of the Chemical Society, the Royal Institute of Chemistry, the Faraday Society, and the Society for Analytical Chemistry with a new Royal Charter and the dual role of learned society and professional body. At its inception, the Society had a combined membership of 34,000 in the UK and a further 8,000 abroad. The headquarters of the Society are at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London. It also has offices in Thomas Graham House in Cambridge (named after Thomas Graham (chemist), Thomas Graham, the first president of the Chemical Society) where ''RSC Publishing'' is based. The Society has offices in the United States, on the campuses of The University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University, at the University City Science Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in both Beijing a ...

Scientific Journal
In academic publishing, a scientific journal is a periodical publication intended to further the progress of science, usually by reporting new research. Content Articles in scientific journals are mostly written by active scientists such as students, researchers, and professors instead of professional journalists. There are thousands of scientific journals in publication, and many more have been published at various points in the past (see list of scientific journals). Most journals are highly specialized, although some of the oldest journals such as ''Nature'' publish articles and scientific papers across a wide range of scientific fields. Scientific journals contain articles that have been peer reviewed, in an attempt to ensure that articles meet the journal's standards of quality and scientific validity. Although scientific journals are superficially similar to professional magazines, they are actually quite different. Issues of a scientific journal are rarely read casuall ...

Royal Institute Of Chemistry
The Royal Institute of Chemistry was a British scientific organisation. Founded in 1877 as the Institute of Chemistry of Great Britain and Ireland (ICGBI), its role was to focus on qualifications and the professional status of chemists, and its aim was to ensure that consulting and analytical chemists were properly trained and qualified. The society received its first Royal Charter on 13 June 1885, and King George VI awarded the society royal patronage with effect from 14 May 1943, from which date it became the Royal Institute of Chemistry of Great Britain and Ireland (RICGBI). This re-designation was formally confirmed by the grant of a Supplemental Charter on 29 March 1944. As well as insisting on thorough professional qualifications, it also laid down strict ethical standards. Its main qualifications were Licentiate (LRIC) (professional training following a course of practical study to a standard lower than an honours degree), Graduate (GRIC) (completion of study equivalent to ...

Chemical Society Reviews
''Chemical Society Reviews'' is a biweekly peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Royal Society of Chemistry, for review articles on topics of current interest in chemistry. Its predecessors were ''Quarterly Reviews, Chemical Society'' (1947–1971) and ''Royal Institute of Chemistry, Reviews'' (1968–1971); it maintained its current title since 1971. According to the ''Journal Citation Reports'', the journal has a 2020 impact factor of 54.564. The current editor-in-chief (Chair of Editorial Board) is Douglas Stephan. ''Chemical Society Reviews'' publishes occasional themed issues on new and emerging areas of research in the chemical sciences. These issues are edited by a guest editor who is a specialist in their field. Since 2005, ''Chemical Society Reviews'' has published reviews on topics of broad appeal, termed "social interest" reviews, such as articles on art conservation, forensics, and automotive fuels. The journal is abstracted and indexed in PubMed/MEDLINE ...

List Of Scientific Journals
The following is a partial list of scientific journals. There are thousands of scientific journals in publication, and many more have been published at various points in the past. The list given here is far from exhaustive, only containing some of the most influential, currently publishing journals in each field. As a rule of thumb, each field should be represented by fewer than ten positions, chosen by their impact factors and other ratings. ''Note'': there are many science magazines that are not scientific journals, including ''Scientific American'', ''New Scientist'', ''Australasian Science'' and others. They are not listed here. For periodicals in the social sciences and humanities, see list of social science journals. General and multidisciplinary science Basic and physical sciences Archaeology Astronomy and astrophysics Chemistry Earth and atmospheric sciences Materials science Mechanics * ''Annual Review of Fluid Mechanics'' * ''Archive for Rational Mechanic ...
