Bob Galliers
Robert D. Galliers is Bentley University’s Distinguished Professor Emeritus having previously served as Provost. He also holds an honorary appointment as Visiting Professor of Information Systems at Loughborough University. Previously, Bob held professorships at the London School of Economics, Warwick Business School (where he served as Dean), and Curtin University. He has held a number of visiting professorships internationally and serves on various university advisory boards. He is the former editor-in-chief of The Journal of Strategic Information Systems, which he has led from 1991 (its foundation) to December 2018; Bob is a Fellow of the British Computer Society, the Royal Society of Arts, and the Association for Information Systems, of which he was President in 1999. Information is an abstract concept that refers to that which has the power to inform. At the most fundamental level information pertains to the interpretation of that which may be sensed. Any natural process that is not completely random, and any observable pattern in any medium can be said to convey some amount of information. The impact factor (IF) or journal impact factor (JIF) of an academic journal is a scientometric index calculated by Clarivate that reflects the yearly mean number of citations of articles published in the last two years in a given journal, as indexed by Clarivate's Web of Science. Scopus is Elsevier's abstract and citation database launched in 2004. Scopus covers nearly 36,377 titles (22,794 active titles and 13,583 inactive titles) from approximately 11,678 publishers, of which 34,346 are peer-reviewed journals in top-level subject fields: life sciences, social sciences, physical sciences and health sciences.
