Journal Of Development Economics
The ''Journal of Development Economics'' is a bimonthly peer-reviewed academic journal published by Elsevier. It was established in 1974 and is considered the top field journal in development economics. Its editor-in-chief from 1985 to 2003 was Pranab Bardhan, who has been the longest-serving JDE editor to date. He followed T.N. Srinivasan, and Lance Taylor as Editors since the journal was established in 1974. Development economics is a branch of economics which deals with economic aspects of the development process in low- and middle- income countries. Its focus is not only on methods of promoting economic development, economic growth and structural change but also on improving the potential for the mass of the population, for example, through health, education and workplace conditions, whether through public or private channels. Development economics involves the creation of theories and methods that aid in the determination of policies and practices and can be implemented at either the domestic or international level. This may involve restructuring market incentives or using mathematical methods such as intertemporal optimization for project analysis, or it may involve a mixture of quantitative and qualitative methods. Maitreesh Ghatak (born 7 February 1968) is an Indian economist who is the Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics. He is an applied microeconomic theorist with research interests in economic development, public economics, and the economics of organisations. Works His research interests include microfinance, property rights, occupational choice, collective action, and the economics of NGOs and non-profits. Mark Rosenzweig (economist)
Mark Richard Rosenzweig is an economist and the Frank Altschul Professor of International Economics at Yale University, where he also directs the Economic Growth Center. Rosenzweig belongs to the world's most prominent agricultural and development economists, and is one of the leading scholars on the subjects of the economics of insurance and migration. Lance Jerome Taylor (May 25, 1940 to August 15, 2022) was a well known Structuralist economics, structuralist macroeconomist, working to understand the macroeconomy through “its major institutions and distributive relationships across productive sectors and social groups." Pranab Bardhan (born 11 September 1939 in Calcutta) is an Indian economist who has taught and worked in the United States since 1979. He is Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley.
