Cell physiology is the biological study of the activities that take place in a cell to keep it alive. The term ''physiology'' refers to normal functions in a living organism. Animal cells, plant cells and microorganism cells show similarities in their functions even though they vary in structure. General characteristics There are two types of cells: prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Prokaryotes were the first of the two to develop and do not have a self-contained nucleus. Their mechanisms are simpler than later-evolved eukaryotes, which contain a nucleus that envelops the cell's DNA and some organelles. Prokaryotes Prokaryotes have DNA located in an area called the nucleoid, which is not separated from other parts of the cell by a membrane. There are two domains of prokaryotes: bacteria and archaea. Leisure has often been defined as a quality of experience or as free time. Free time is time spent away from business, work, job hunting, domestic chores, and education, as well as necessary activities such as eating and sleeping. Leisure as an experience usually emphasizes dimensions of perceived freedom and choice. It is done for "its own sake", for the quality of experience and involvement. The ''PubMed Dietary Supplement Subset'' (PMDSS) is a joint project between the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Library of Medicine (NLM) and the NIH ''Office of Dietary Supplements'' (ODS). PMDSS is designed to help people search for academic journal articles related to dietary supplement literature. The subset was created using a search strategy that includes terms provided by the Office of Dietary Supplements, and selected journals indexed for PubMed that include significant dietary supplement related content. It succeeds the ''International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements'' (IBIDS) database, 1999–2010, which was a collaboration between the Office of Dietary Supplements and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Library. EMBiology is a bibliographic database established in June 2005, and produced by Elsevier. ''EMBiology'' focuses on indexing the literature in the life sciences in general. Coverage includes science in the laboratory (fundamental research) and science in the field (applied research). It is designed to be smaller than EMBASE, with abstracting and indexing for 1,800 journals not covered by the larger database. However, there is some overlap. Hence, ''EMBiology'' is specifically designed for academic institutions that range from small to mid-size and all biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.
