Joto High School
Tokushima Prefectural Joto High School (徳島県立城東高等学校, ''Tokushima Kenritsu Jōtō Kōtō Gakkō'') is a secondary school in Tokushima, Tokushima, Japan, founded in 1902. It is one of the top high schools in Tokushima Prefecture. Approximately 1,100 students attend the school. The school is operated by the Tokushima Prefectural Board of Education. In 2004, the school replaced its old school building with a newer facility. In 2014, Joto High School was designated as a Super Global High School (スーパーグローバルハイスクール) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Jakucho Setouchi
(15 May 1922 – 9 November 2021; born formerly known as was a Japanese Buddhist nun, writer, and activist. Setouchi wrote a best-selling translation of '' The Tale of Genji'' and over 400 fictional biographical and historical novels. In 1997, she was honored as a Person of Cultural Merit, and in 2006, she was awarded the Order of Culture of Japan. Biography Setouchi was born Harumi Mitani on 15 May 1922 in Tokushima, Tokushima Prefecture to Toyokichi and Koharu Mitani. Toyokichi was a cabinetmaker who made Buddhist and Shinto religious objects. In 1929, her family began using the surname Setouchi after her father was adopted by a family member. Setouchi studied Japanese literature at Tokyo Woman's Christian University before her arranged marriage to scholar Yasushi Sakai in 1943. is a Japanese manga artist and the former president of Kyoto Seika University. Career Keiko Takemiya (or Takemiya Keiko) is included in the Year 24 Group, a term coined by academics and critics to refer to a group of female authors in the early 1970s who helped transform manga (manga for girls) from being created primarily by male authors to being created by female authors. As part of this group, Takemiya pioneered a genre of manga about love between young men called ( "boy love"). In 1970, she published a short story titled '' Sanrūmu Nite'' ("In the Sunroom") in ''Bessatsu Shōjo Comic'', which is possibly the first manga ever published and contains the earliest known male–male kiss in manga.
