José Tomás Pérez Sellés (26 August 1934, in Alicante – 7 August 2001) was a Spanish classical guitarist and teacher. Eight String Guitar
An eight-string guitar is a guitar with eight strings, or one more than the Russian guitar's seven. Eight-string guitars are less common than six- and seven-string guitars, but they are used by a few classical, jazz, and metal guitarists. The eight-string guitar allows a wider tonal range, or non-standard tunings (such as major-thirds tuning), or both. Various non-standard guitars were made in the 19th century, including eight-string guitars played by Italians Giulio Regondi and Luigi Legnani. Eight-string electric guitars gained popularity among metal bands, largely inspired by Swedish progressive metal band Meshuggah (formed in 1987). Contemporary use outside of metal has picked up in the last decade, and owes much to Animals as Leaders and their stylistic eclecticism. Edoardo Catemario
Edoardo Catemario (born 25 September 1965) is an Italian classical guitarist. Biography Edoardo Catemario was born in Naples. He studied guitar with Salvatore Canino, Antimo Pedata, José Tomás, Stefano Aruta and Maria Luisa Anido, piano and analysis with Titina De Fazio and the South American composers Leo Brouwer and Oscar Casares. At the age of 11 gave his first solo recital. In January 1991 Catemario was the first prize winner of the " Andrés Segovia" guitar competition in Almuñécar, and in 1992 of the Michele Pittaluga International Classical Guitar Competition in Alessandria. Carles Trepat
Carles Trepat (born 1960) is a Spanish classical guitarist. He has won several international prizes, including the "Premio Tárrega" in the "Certamen Internacional Francisco Tárrega de Benicàssim". In July 2014, he was awarded with the "Honorific Prize José Tomás" in Petrer. Trepat was born in Lérida (Spain) in 1960, where he started studying guitar when he was thirteen with Jordi Montagut. In 1976, he attended the last classical guitar course given by Emilio Pujol who was a student of Francisco Tárrega. Some of his other teachers were José Tomás, Alberto Ponce, Eduardo Sainz de la Maza and Rafael Andia. Rafael Serrallet (born in Valencia, Spain on July 14, 1971) is a Spanish classical guitarist. Career Rafael Serrallet was born in Valencia and started playing the guitar at the age of 12. Rafael studied with Andres Segovia’s pupil and assistant, José Tomás; he also attended the Spanish Academy in Rome; and received a doctorate in music (PhD) by the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia, and a Master of Education by the UNED. Edson Lopes (born July 23, 1957 in the São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian classical guitarist, composer and arranger. Biography Graduating in 1978 at the Conservatory of Musical and Dramatic Arts "Dr. Carlos de Campos", Tatuí, SP (Brazil) in classical guitar, in 2003 Edson Lopes became a Licentiate in Guitar Performance at Trinity College, London. Thomas Müller-Pering
Thomas Müller-Pering (born 1958 in Cologne) is a classical guitarist from Germany. He studied under Prof. Tadashi Sasaki at the Hochschule für Musik Köln and performed in the master classes of John Williams, José Tomás, Oscar Ghiglia and Siegfried Behrend. In 1983 he was awarded 1st Prize in the "Concurso internacional de ejecución musical" in Viña del Mar, Chile. He has concertized throughout Europe, North and South-America, Africa and Asia.
