José Roberto Wright
José Roberto Ramiz Wright, also known as José Roberto Wright or José Ramiz Wright (born September 7, 1944 in Rio de Janeiro), is a former Brazilian football referee. He supervised four matches during the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. He is also unkindly well-known by Atlético-MG fans for sending off 5 players and the club's manager during a match against Flamengo in the 1981 Copa Libertadores. In the same year, Flamengo won Copa Libertadores, and proceeded to play the 1981 Intercontinental Cup, where they beat Liverpool F.C. Campeonato Mineiro
Campeonato Mineiro is the state football league of the state of Minas Gerais and is controlled by the Minas Gerais Football Federation FMF (Federação Mineira de Futebol). The history of Campeonato Mineiro can be divided into two parts: before and after the construction of the Mineirão, in September 1966. The Mineirão is the biggest football stadium of Minas Gerais and it is located in Minas Gerais' state capital, Belo Horizonte. Before the stadium's inauguration América and Atlético were the most successful teams in the state, but after the construction of the Mineirão, known as the "Era Mineirão" ("Mineirão Era"), another team from the capital, Cruzeiro, also gained prominence. 1981 Intercontinental Cup
The 1981 Intercontinental Cup was an association football match between Liverpool of England and Flamengo of Brazil on 13 December 1981 at the National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. The annual Intercontinental Cup was contested between the winners of the European Cup and Copa Libertadores. Flamengo qualified for the Intercontinental Cup for the first time following their Copa Libertadores Cup success. Liverpool were also appearing in their first Intercontinental Cup. They had declined to take part in 1977 and 1978 after they won the European Cup. In association football, the referee is the person responsible for interpreting and enforcing the Laws of the Game during a match. The referee is the final decision-making authority on all facts connected with play, and is the match official with the authority to start and stop play and impose disciplinary action against players and coaches during a match.
